Image registration system

Abstract

An image registration server which can communicate with a client device, includes an image data receiving device for receiving image data transmitted from the client device, an image data generation device for generating image data representing the same image as an image represented by the image data received by the image data receiving device and having a different form of representation therefrom, and an image data storage device for storing the image data generated by the image data generation device so as to be accessible.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A media rendering device comprising:
 an output device configured to transform image data to a viewable format;   a transceiver configured to transmit and receive data;   a display configured to display preview image data stored on a server;   an input device configured to receive a user selection; and   a controller configured to:
 transmit registration information to the server, the registration information providing the media rendering device access to information of images previously generated for the media rendering device and stored on the server, and 
 output on the output device, the image data received from the server based on a selected previewed image data. 
   
     
     
         2 . The media rendering device of  claim 1 , wherein the preview image data comprises image data in a thumbnail form. 
     
     
         3 . The media rendering device of  claim 2 , wherein, when outputting the image data received from the server based on the selected preview image data, the controller is further configured to:
 receive a selection of the preview image data displayed on the display via the input device, and   retrieve from the server the image data that corresponds to the selected previewed image data.   
     
     
         4 . The media rendering device of  claim 3 ,
 wherein the preview image data is produced by the server from a plurality of images generated by an image registration client device and stored on the server.   
     
     
         5 . The media rendering device of  claim 1 , wherein the registration information includes information of capabilities of the media rendering device. 
     
     
         6 . A method of rendering image data on a media rendering device, the method comprising:
 transmitting registration information to a server, the registration information providing the media display device access to information of images previously generated for the media rendering device and stored on the server, and   outputting to an output device, the image data received from the server based on a selected previewed image data.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the previewed image data comprises image data in a thumbnail form. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the outputting of the image data received from the server based on the selected previewed image data comprises:
 receiving a selection of the previewed image data displayed on a display via an input device; and   retrieving from the server the image data that corresponds to the selected previewed image data.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the previewed image data is a plurality of images produced by an image registration client device and stored on the server. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the registration information includes information of capabilities of the media rendering device. 
     
     
         11 . A non-transitory computer readable storage device with a computer program stored thereon, the computer program executed by a computer to perform the method of  claim 6 . 
     
     
         12 . A printing apparatus comprising:
 a printing device configured to transform image data onto printable media;   a transceiver configured to transmit and receive data from a server;   an input/output device configured to receive an input and to display preview images; and   a controller configured to:
 receive, via the input/output device, the registration information to allow the printer device to access data stored at the server, 
 display at least one preview image stored on the server, the at least one preview image having a corresponding at least one image stored on the server, 
 receive a selection of at least one preview image of the displayed at least one preview image, 
 request the image data corresponding to the selected at least one preview image from the server by providing the server an indication of the selected at least one preview image and the registration information, and 
 print the image data corresponding to the selected at least one preview image received from the server. 
   
     
     
         13 . The printer apparatus of  claim 12 , wherein the at least one previewed image comprises image data in a thumbnail form. 
     
     
         14 . The printing apparatus of  claim 12 ,
 wherein the at least one preview image data is at least one image produced by the server and stored at the server, and   wherein the produced at least one preview image data is produced from at least one image generated by an image registration client device.   
     
     
         15 . The printing apparatus of  claim 12 , wherein the registration information includes information of capabilities of the media rendering device. 
     
     
         16 . A method for operating a printing apparatus that is in communication with a server, the method comprising:
 receiving, via an input/output device, registration information to allow the printer device to access data stored at the server;   displaying at least one preview image stored on the printer device, each of the at least one preview image having a corresponding image stored on the server;   receiving a selection of at least one preview image of the displayed at least one preview image;   requesting the image data corresponding to the selected at least one preview image from the server by providing the server an indication of the selected at least one preview image and the registration information; and   printing the image data corresponding to the selected at least one preview image received from the server.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the displayed at least one previewed image comprises image data in a thumbnail form. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one previewed image data is a plurality of images produced by an image registration client device and stored at the server. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the registration information includes information of capabilities of the media rendering device. 
     
     
         20 . A non-transitory computer readable storage device with a computer program stored thereon, the computer program executed by a computer to perform the method of  claim 16 .
