Portable electronic device

Abstract

A portable electronic device 100 includes a horizontally long casing, both ends of which are gripped by a user's both hands, respectively. The device further includes a LCD fit into the front face of the casing 10 . Outwardly projecting bulges are respectively formed at both sides of the rear face of the casing where fingers of the user gripping the casing 10 placed. Since the fingers and palms are naturally flexed to fit to the dome-like bulges 42 L, 42 R, the portable electronic device 100 fits comfortably in the user's hands. The operability is hard to be degraded even if the device is vibrated strongly during a game play with the device.

1 . A portable electronic device, comprising:
 a casing, both ends of which are capable of being gripped by a user's both hands, respectively;   a display unit fitted onto the face of the casing;   operation device arranged to operate an object in the image displayed on the display unit;   left-hand area and right-hand area on which the operation device is located, respectively;   a home button is located in an area sandwiched between the left-hand area and the right-hand area, the home button being arranged to put the image displayed on the display unit back to a main screen.   
     
     
         2 . The portable electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the home button is located below the display unit. 
     
     
         3 . The portable electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the home button is located within an area constituted to be tactilely or visually distinct from the left-hand area and the right-hand area. 
     
     
         4 . The portable electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the operation device comprises an analog operation device operated by a thumb of the user gripping the casing, the analog operation device being arranged to output an analog signal for direction of the object. 
     
     
         5 . The portable electronic device of  claim 4 , wherein the operation device comprises a direction instruction key operated by a thumb of the user gripping the casing, the direction instruction key having a plurality of pressing faces each corresponding to an operation direction thereon. 
     
     
         6 . The portable electronic device of  claim 5 , wherein the center of the analog operation device is located inwardly than the center of the direction instruction key. 
     
     
         7 . The portable electronic device of  claim 4 , wherein the operation device comprises a plurality of button keys operated by a thumb of the user gripping the casing, the plurality of button keys each outputting single instruction
