Abstract

A twinax cable is described. The twinax cable has at least one twinax wire pair with a first shield tape wrapped around it and then surrounded by a second shield tape wrapped around the twinax wire pair and the first shield tape. The shield tapes are wrapped such that the metallic sides of the tape face and make contact with each other.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A printed circuit board (PCB) and cable assembly comprising:
a PCB; a twinax cable, wherein the twinax cable includes a twinax wire-pair electrically connected to the PCB at a first end of the twinax cable, a first shield tape wrapped around the twinax wire-pair, and a second shield tape wrapped around the twinax wire-pair and the first shield tape; an inner crimp ferrule surrounding a portion of the twinax wire-pair and the first shield tape proximate to the first end of the twinax cable; and an outer crimp ferrule surrounding the inner crimp ferrule and a portion of the second shield tape at the first end of the twinax cable.

2 . The PCB and cable assembly of claim 1 wherein the inner crimp ferrule is electrically connected to the PCB.

3 . The PCB and cable assembly of claim 2 wherein the inner crimp ferrule is electrically connected to a grounding pad on the PCB.

4 . The PCB and cable assembly of claim 1 wherein the first and second shield tapes are spirally wrapped in alternate directions.
