Abstract
A computer-implemented system and method for adjusting a display of document clusters is provided. A viewer is positioned over one or more groupings of document clusters within a display. A concept is identified for one or more of the document cluster groupings and each concept is aligned around a circumference of the viewer adjacent to the document cluster grouping for that concept. A view of the document cluster groupings is adjusted within the display and the concepts are redrawn around the viewer circumference to prevent overlap of the concepts.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer-implemented system for adjusting a display of document clusters, comprising:
a viewer positioned over one or more groupings of document clusters within a display; a concept module to identify a concept for one or more of the document cluster groupings; a concept alignment module to align each concept around a circumference of the viewer adjacent to the document cluster grouping for that concept; and an adjustment module to adjust a view of the document cluster groupings within the display and to redraw the concepts around the viewer circumference to prevent overlap of the concepts.
2 . A system according to claim 1 , further comprising
a concept pointer for concept, wherein the concept pointer connects the concept for one such grouping to a document cluster from that grouping that is closest to the circumference of the viewer.
3 . A system according to claim 2 , further comprising:
a concept placement module to minimize a length of each concept pointer between the concept and the document cluster closest to the viewer circumference.
4 . A system according to claim 2 , further comprising:
a concept selection module to select one of the concepts and to highlight the concept pointer associated with the selected concept.
5 . A system according to claim 2 , further comprising:
a concept placement module to prevent crossing of the concept pointers for each document cluster grouping.
6 . A system according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a selection module to receive a selection of one of the document clusters; and a label display module to display at least one label associated with that document cluster.
7 . A system according to claim 6 , wherein the document cluster labels each comprise a top concept for documents within that document cluster.
8 . A system according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a threshold module to define a predetermined number of the concepts for display.
9 . A system according to claim 8 , further comprising:
a slot placement module to place a number of slots around the circumference of the viewer, wherein the number of slots is one of equal to or less than the predetermined number of concepts for display.
10 . A system according to claim 9 , further comprising:
a concept placement module to place the concepts within the placed slots.
11 . A computer-implemented method for adjusting a display of document clusters, comprising:
positioning a viewer over one or more groupings of document clusters within a display; identifying a concept for one or more of the document cluster groupings; aligning each concept around a circumference of the viewer adjacent to the document cluster grouping for that concept; adjusting a view of the document cluster groupings within the display; and redrawing the concepts around the viewer circumference to prevent overlap of the concepts.
12 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising
identifying a concept pointer for concept, wherein the concept pointer connects the concept for one such grouping to a document cluster from that grouping that is closest to the circumference of the viewer.
13 . A method according to claim 12 , further comprising:
minimizing a length of the concept pointer between the concept and the document cluster closest to the viewer circumference.
14 . A method according to claim 12 , further comprising:
selecting one of the concepts; and highlighting the concept pointer associated with the selected concept.
15 . A method according to claim 12 , further comprising:
preventing crossing of the concept pointers for each document cluster grouping.
16 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising:
receiving a selection of one of the document clusters; and displaying at least one label associated with that document cluster.
17 . A method according to claim 16 , wherein the cluster labels each comprise a top concept for documents within that document cluster.
18 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising:
defining a predetermined number of the concepts for display.
19 . A method according to claim 18 , further comprising:
placing a number of slots around the circumference of the viewer, wherein the number of slots is one of equal to or less than the predetermined number of concepts for display.
20 . A method according to claim 19 , further comprising:
placing the concepts within the placed slots.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
