Abstract

Disclosed is a method for the manufacture of fibrous yarn including the steps, where an aqueous suspension including fibers and at least one rheology modifier is provided, followed by directing the suspension through at least one nozzle, to form at least one yarn, and then dewatering the yarn.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A fibrous yarn made of a dewatered aqueous suspension comprising fibers and at least one rheology modifier, and said suspension has been directed through at least one nozzle having an inner diameter of an outlet smaller than or equal to the maximum length weighed fiber length of the fibers.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , wherein the fibers are a mixture of natural fibers and synthetic fibers.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , wherein the fibers have an average length of 2 to 3 mm.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 2 , wherein the natural fibers are virgin fibers or recycled fibers.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 2 , wherein the natural fibers are at least one wood fiber selected from the group consisting of spruce fiber, pine fiber, fir fiber, larch fiber, Douglas-fir fiber, hemlock fiber, birch fiber, aspen fiber, poplar fiber, alder fiber, eucalyptus fiber and acacia fiber.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 2 , wherein the natural fibers are at least one non-wood fiber selected from the group consisting of straw fiber, leaf fiber, bark fiber, seed fiber, hull fiber, flower fiber, vegetable fiber, fruit fiber, corn fiber, cotton fiber, wheat fiber, oat fiber, rye fiber, barley fiber, rice fiber, flax fiber, hemp fiber, manilla hemp fiber, sisal hemp fiber, jute fiber, ramie fiber, kenaf fiber, bagasse fiber, bamboo fiber, reed fiber and peat fiber.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 2 , wherein the synthetic fibers are at least one selected from the group consisting of glass fibers, polymeric fibers and metal fibers.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , wherein the rheology modifier is at least one selected from the group consisting of alginate, pectin, carrageenan and nanofibrillar cellulose.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , wherein the rheology modifier is nanofibrillar cellulose having a length greater than 1 μm and a number-average diameter below 200 nm.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 9 , wherein the nanofibrillar cellulose contains hemicelluose.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , which further comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a hydrophobicity agent, a hydrophilicity agent, a colorant, a decorative agent, an elasticity modifier, a tensile strength modifier, a strength modifier, a starch, a gum, a water-soluble polyelectrolyte, decorative pieces and metal powder.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , which further comprises at least one dispersion agent selected from the group consisting of carboxymethyl cellulose, anionic starch neutral starch and anionic polyacrylamides.

. The fibrous yarn of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous yarn is not formed from paper.

. A moist fibrous yarn, made of a dewatered aqueous suspension comprising fibers and at least one rheology modifier, and said suspension has been directed through at least one nozzle having an inner diameter of the outlet smaller than or equal to the maximum length weighed fiber length of the fibers.

. The moist fibrous yarn of claim 14 , wherein the moist fibrous yarn is in gel form.

. The moist fibrous yarn of claim 15 , wherein the gel is formed from the rheology modifier and the presence of a cation selected from the group consisting of Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Sr 2+ and Ba 2+ .

. The moist fibrous yarn of claim 16 , wherein the rheology modifier is at least one selected from the group consisting of alginate, pectin, carrageenan and nanofibrillar cellulose.

. The moist fibrous yarn of claim 17 , wherein the rheology modifier is nanofibrillar cellulose having a length greater than 1 μm and a number-average diameter below 200 nm.
