Networked data projecting system, projector, and content projecting method

Abstract

An output device is connected to a server configured to store one or more content items and an IC card terminal and is configured to output the one or more content items. The output device includes a control unit configured to control an IC card to store a content identifier of the content item by sending the content identifier of the content item to the IC card terminal when the IC card is detected by the IC card terminal while the content item is being projected by the projector, a reception unit configured to receive a content that corresponds to the content identifier from the server when the IC card is detected by the IC card terminal, and an output unit configured to output the content that is received by the reception unit.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An output device that is connected to a server configured to store one or more content items and an IC card terminal and is configured to output the one or more content items, said output device comprising:
 a control unit configured to control an IC card to store a content identifier of the content item by sending the content identifier of the content item to the IC card terminal when the IC card is detected by the IC card terminal while the content item is being projected by the projector;   a reception unit configured to receive a content that corresponds to the content identifier of the content that is stored in the IC card from the server when the IC card that stores the content identifier of the content is detected by the IC card terminal; and   an output unit configured to output the content that is received by the reception unit.   
     
     
         2 . The output device as claimed in  claim 1 , further comprising a progress information transmitting unit configured to send, to the server, progress information indicating progress in projecting the content item,
 wherein the server is further connected to an information processing terminal including a content requesting unit configured to read the content identifier stored in the IC card and send the content identifier to the server to request the content item corresponding to the content identifier, and   wherein the server is further configured to send the content item to the information processing terminal based on the progress information.   
     
     
         3 . The output device as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the server is configured to send, to the information processing terminal, a difference between a part of the content item that has been projected and a part of the content item that has already been sent to the information processing terminal, by using a polling method. 
     
     
         4 . The output device as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the server further includes a related content transmitting unit configured to
 generate a list of related content items related to the content item in response to a query from the information processing terminal,   send the list of related content items to the information processing terminal, and   send a related content item selected at the information processing terminal from the list of related content items to the information processing apparatus.   
     
     
         5 . The output device as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein
 the output device further includes a card identifier transmitting unit configured to read a card identifier from the IC card that is detected by the IC card terminal and send the card identifier to the server;   the content requesting unit of the information processing terminal is configured to also read the card identifier from the IC card and send the card identifier together with the content identifier to the server; and   the server is configured to send the content item to the information processing terminal when the card identifier sent from the content requesting unit of the information processing terminal matches the card identifier sent from the card identifier transmitting unit of the projector.   
     
     
         6 . The output device as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the server is configured to store the content items in association with at least one of
 card identifiers of IC cards,   identifiers of information processing terminals, and   user identifiers.   
     
     
         7 . A system comprising:
 a server configured to store one or more content items,   an IC card terminal, and   an output device that is connected to the server and the IC card terminal and is configured to output the one or more content items, said output device including:
 a control unit configured to control an IC card to store a content identifier of the content item by sending the content identifier of the content item to the IC card terminal when the IC card is detected by the IC card terminal while the content item is being projected by the projector; 
 a reception unit configured to receive a content that corresponds to the content identifier of the content that is stored in the IC card from the server when the IC card that stores the content identifier of the content is detected by the IC card terminal; and 
 an output unit configured to output the content that is received by the reception unit. 
   
     
     
         8 . An output method performed by an device that is connected to a server configured to store one or more content items and an IC card terminal for outputting the one or more content items, said method including the steps of:
 controlling, by a control unit of the output device, an IC card to store a content identifier of the content item by sending the content identifier of the content item to the IC card terminal when the IC card is detected by the IC card terminal while the content item is being projected by the projector;   receiving, by a reception unit of the output device, a content that corresponds to the content identifier of the content that is stored in the IC card from the server when the IC card that stores the content identifier of the content is detected by the IC card terminal; and   outputting, by an output unit of the output device, the content that is received by the reception unit.
