Switching between internal and external antennas
Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for switching between internal and external antennas. In some implementations, a system includes an antenna, a connector, and a housing. The antenna is configured to communicate wirelessly transactions with transaction terminals. The connector is connected to the antenna and configured to connect a transaction card to the antenna in response to at least insertion in the housing. The housing enclosing at least a portion of the antenna and at least a portion of the connector and including one or more elements that form an opening for receiving the transaction card. In addition, the housing is substantially rectangular and includes a first portion with a first thickness and a second portion with a second thickness different from the first thickness and at least the thickness of the transaction card.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 23 . (canceled)
24 . A portable device, comprising:
a first antenna configured to wirelessly execute transactions within a first range; a connection to a display including a Graphical User Interface (GUI); a connection to a cellular transceiver that communicates with a cellular network; a Near Field Communication (NFC) module including secure memory and an NFC antenna configured to wirelessly execute transactions within a second range, wherein the first range is larger than the second range; and one or more processors configured to deactivate the NFC antenna and activate the first antenna in response to an event.
25 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein the secure memory stores a plurality of security frameworks for the user credentials, the transaction module executes requested transactions using security frameworks from the plurality of security frameworks.
26 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein the wireless transactions are executed in response to at least user selections through dynamically-generated displays.
27 . The portable device of claim 26 , wherein the dynamically-generated displays present information based, at least in part, on at least one of real-time content during transactions, locally-stored offline content, or online content retrieved from the one or more enterprises.
28 . The portable device of claim 24 , further comprising a user-interface module to present a request for user identification including at least one of a Personal Identification Number (PIN), user ID and password, or biometric authentication and verify submitted user identification with user identification locally stored in the secure memory prior to executing requested transactions.
29 . The portable device of claim 24 , the one or more processors further configured to decrypt received signals prior to processing and encrypt at least part of transactions response prior to wireless transmission.
30 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein the event comprises a user request.
31 . The portable device of claim 24 , the one or more processors configured to activate access to user credentials and transmits, using cellular transceiver, to an associated financial institution a request to activate an associated user account.
32 . The portable device of claim 31 , wherein access to user credentials is activated based, at least in part, on a user manually entering an activation code using the GUI of the portable device.
33 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein the user of the mobile device manages different user accounts associated with the user credentials using the GUI.
34 . The portable device of claim 24 , the one or more processors further configured to receive requests to update the user credentials through the cellular transceiver of the mobile device or a wired connection with a broadband network.
35 . The portable device of claim 24 , the credentials module further configured to at least add new sets of user credentials or delete existing user credentials based, at least in part, on the update requests.
36 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein the user credentials include a default user credentials, the one or more processors further configured to use the default user credentials after at least completing a requested transaction using different user credentials or expiration of a period of time to complete a transaction using non-default user credentials.
37 . The portable device of claim 24 , wherein user credentials are loaded into the secure memory from a plurality of different enterprises.Cited by (0)
