Some embodiments described herein provide a content publishing tool for publishing documents to a content distribution system. The content publishing tool in some embodiments guides the application's user through different operations in preparing a document for publication. In some embodiments, these operations include one or more of the following: (1) analyzing the document for errors, (2) specifying a version number for the document, (3) creating a sample document, and (4) exporting the document for publication.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A method comprising:
receiving input to publish an authored document to an electronic content distribution system that distributes the published document to a plurality of client devices; in response to the input, providing a step-by-step guide for publishing the document that sequentially presents a plurality of publishing steps according to a workflow order for publishing the document; and at each particular publishing step, providing a set of user interface (UI) items relating to the particular publishing step, the set of UI items for at least one of the publishing steps based on a set of properties of the document that are related to the particular publishing step.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises at least (i) identifying errors in the document, (ii) adding version information to the document, (iii) creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, and (iv) exporting the document.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the method is performed by a document authoring application used to author the document.
24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises signing into a user account with the content distribution system, wherein the published document is associated with the user account.
25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises adding version information to the document, wherein the set of UI items related to the step for adding version information comprises a most recent version of the document published to the content distribution system.
26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, wherein the of UI items related to the step for creating a sample version of the document comprises a drop-down list of sections of the document.
27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises identifying errors in the document, the method further comprising analyzing the document to determine (i) errors that are optional to correct and (ii) errors that are mandatory to correct before publishing the document.
28 . A non-transitory machine readable medium storing a program for execution by at least one processing unit, the program comprising sets of instructions for:
receiving input to publish an authored document to an electronic content distribution system that distributes the published document to a plurality of client devices; in response to the input, providing a step-by-step guide for publishing the document that sequentially presents a plurality of publishing steps according to a workflow order for publishing the document; and at each particular publishing step, providing a set of user interface (UI) items relating to the particular publishing step, the set of UI items for at least one of the publishing steps based on a set of properties of the document that are related to the particular publishing step.
29 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises at least (i) identifying errors in the document, (ii) adding version information to the document, (iii) creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, and (iv) exporting the document.
30 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the program is a document authoring application used to author the document.
31 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises signing into a user account with the content distribution system, wherein the published document is associated with the user account.
32 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises adding version information to the document, wherein the set of UI items related to the step for adding version information comprises a most recent version of the document published to the content distribution system.
33 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, wherein the of UI items related to the step for creating a sample version of the document comprises a drop-down list of sections of the document.
34 . The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises identifying errors in the document, the program further comprising a set of instructions for analyzing the document to determine (i) errors that are optional to correct and (ii) errors that are mandatory to correct before publishing the document.
35 . An electronic device comprising:
a set of processing units; and a non-transitory machine readable medium storing a program for execution by at least one processing unit, the program comprising sets of instructions for:
receiving input to publish an authored document to an electronic content distribution system that distributes the published document to a plurality of client devices;
in response to the input, providing a step-by-step guide for publishing the document that sequentially presents a plurality of publishing steps according to a workflow order for publishing the document; and
at each particular publishing step, providing a set of user interface (UI) items relating to the particular publishing step, the set of UI items for at least one of the publishing steps based on a set of properties of the document that are related to the particular publishing step.
36 . The electronic device of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises at least (i) identifying errors in the document, (ii) adding version information to the document, (iii) creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, and (iv) exporting the document.
37 . The electronic device of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises signing into a user account with the content distribution system, wherein the published document is associated with the user account.
38 . The electronic device of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises adding version information to the document, wherein the set of UI items related to the step for adding version information comprises a most recent version of the document published to the content distribution system.
39 . The electronic device of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises creating a sample version of the document to publish with the document, wherein the of UI items related to the step for creating a sample version of the document comprises a drop-down list of sections of the document.
40 . The electronic device of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of publishing steps comprises identifying errors in the document, the program further comprising a set of instructions for analyzing the document to determine (i) errors that are optional to correct and (ii) errors that are mandatory to correct before publishing the document.Cited by (0)
