Abstract
In a wig clip having comb teeth movable in and out of contact with an elongated part of a wig clip frame, each of the comb teeth is fitted with an elastomeric sleeve. The elastomeric sleeves on the comb teeth cooperate with an elastomeric sleeve of the elongated frame part to grip a user's natural hair frictionally and thereby resist slippage of the wig clip relative to the user's natural hair and hold a wig base to which the wig clip is attached firmly in place on the user's head.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A wig clip comprising:
a frame composed of first and second elongated parts, each said elongated part extending in a longitudinal direction, said first and second elongated parts being disposed in parallel relation to each other, a first connecting part connecting a first end of the first elongated part to a first end of the second elongated part, and a second connecting part connecting a second end of the first elongated part to a second end of the second elongated part; a set of comb teeth disposed between said connecting parts, said comb teeth extending from said first elongated part past said second elongated part, and each of said comb teeth comprising a shank connected to said first elongated part of the frame and a bulb-shaped end remote from said first elongated part, said end being farther than said second elongated part from said first elongated part; and an elastomeric comb tooth sleeve surrounding the shank of each of said comb teeth, the sleeve having an internal passage closely fitting the comb tooth shank which it surrounds; wherein said comb teeth are movable relative to said second elongated part, whereby said elastomeric comb tooth sleeves can be moved into and out of contact with said second elongated part.
2 . A wig clip according to claim 1 , in which said second elongated part includes an elongated strip and an elastomeric strip sleeve surrounding said elongated strip, and in which said comb tooth sleeves are positioned to contact said elastomeric strip sleeve when said elastomeric comb tooth sleeves are moved into contact with said second elongated part.
3 . A wig clip according to claim 1 , in which the inner passage of each said elastomeric comb tooth sleeve has a relaxed inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the bulb-shaped end of the comb tooth to which the last-mentioned comb tooth sleeve is fitted.
4 . A wig clip according to claim 1 , in which said elastomeric comb tooth sleeves have a constant inner diameter along their lengths when relaxed, and in which the bulb shaped ends of the comb teeth have a uniform diameter larger than said constant inner diameter of the elastomeric comb tooth sleeves.
5 . A wig clip comprising:
a frame composed of first and second elongated parts, each said elongated part extending in a longitudinal direction, said first and second elongated parts being disposed in parallel relation to each other, a first connecting part connecting a first end of the first elongated part to a first end of the second elongated part, and a second connecting part connecting a second end of the first elongated part to a second end of the second elongated part, at least one of said first and second elongated parts comprising a material imparting spring properties to said at least one of said elongated parts; a set of comb teeth disposed between said connecting parts, said comb teeth being unitary with said first elongated part and extending from said first elongated part past said second elongated part, and each of said comb teeth comprising a shank connected to said first elongated part of the frame and a bulb-shaped end remote from said first elongated part, said end being farther than said second elongated part from said first elongated part; and an elastomeric comb tooth sleeve surrounding the shank of each of said comb teeth, the sleeve having an internal passage closely fitting the comb tooth shank which it surrounds; in which the one of said first and second elongated parts other than said at least one of said elongated parts is under longitudinal stress whereby, by manually bending said elongated parts, said frame can be converted by a toggle action from a first stable condition in which the elastomeric comb tooth sleeves on said comb teeth are in contact with said second elongated part, to a second stable condition in which the elastomeric comb tooth sleeves on said comb teeth are out of contact with said second elongated part, and from said second stable condition to said first stable condition.
6 . A wig clip according to claim 5 , in which said second elongated part includes an elongated strip and an elastomeric strip sleeve surrounding said elongated strip, and in which said comb tooth sleeves are positioned to contact said elastomeric strip sleeve when said frame is in said first stable condition.
7 . A wig clip according to claim 5 , in which the inner passage of each said elastomeric comb tooth sleeve has a relaxed inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the bulb-shaped end of the comb tooth to which the last-mentioned comb tooth sleeve is fitted.
8 . A wig clip according to claim 5 , in which said elastomeric comb tooth sleeves have a constant inner diameter when relaxed, and in which the bulb shaped ends of the comb teeth have a uniform diameter larger than said constant inner diameter of the elastomeric comb tooth sleeves.
9 . A wig clip according to claim 5 , in which said at least one of said first and second elongated parts comprising a material imparting spring properties to said at least one of said elongated parts is said first elongated part.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
