Azeotrope-like compositions comprising 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene

Abstract

An azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of chlorotrifluoropropene and at least one component selected from the group consisting of a C 1 -C 3 alcohol, a C 5 -C 6 hydrocarbon, a halogenated hydrocarbon, methylal, methyl acetone, water, nitromethane, and combinations thereof.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A composition comprising a binary azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and a C 5 -C 6  hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of n-pentane, isopentane, n-hexane, isohexane, neopentane, cyclopentane, and cyclopentene. 
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 20 to about 99.5 weight percent cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.5 to about 80 weight percent n-pentane. 
     
     
         3 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 5 to about 50 weight percent cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.1 to about 40 weight percent neopentane. 
     
     
         4 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 95 to about 99.9 weight percent trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent cyclopentane. 
     
     
         5 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 42 to about 99 weight percent cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 1 to about 58 weight percent cyclopentane. 
     
     
         6 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 95 to about 99.9 weight percent trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent cyclopentene. 
     
     
         7 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 95 to about 99.99 weight percent trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.01 to about 5 weight percent n-hexane. 
     
     
         8 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 80 to about 99.5 weight percent cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.5 to about 20 weight percent n-hexane. 
     
     
         9 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 94.4 to about 99.99 weight percent trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.01 to about 5.6 weight percent isohexane. 
     
     
         10 . The composition of  claim 1  wherein said azeotrope-like mixture consists essentially of about 70 to about 99.5 weight percent cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and about 0.5 to about 30 weight percent isohexane. 
     
     
         11 . The composition of  claim 1  further comprising at least one adjuvant. 
     
     
         12 . A heat transfer composition comprising the composition of  claim 11 , wherein said adjuvant is selected from the group consisting of a co-blowing agents, fillers, vapor pressure modifiers, flame suppressants, stabilizers, lubricants, and combinations thereof 
     
     
         13 . A heat transfer composition comprising at least about 50% by weight of the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         14 . A blowing agent comprising the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         15 . A blowing agent comprising at least about 5% by weight of the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         16 . A foamable composition comprising one or more components capable of forming foam and the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         17 . A foam formed from the foamable composition of  claim 16 . 
     
     
         18 . A closed cell foam comprising the foam of  claim 17 . 
     
     
         19 . A sprayable composition comprising a material to be sprayed and a propellant comprising the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         20 . The sprayable composition of  claim 19  in the form of an aerosol. 
     
     
         21 . The sprayable composition of  claim 19  wherein said material to be sprayed is selected from the group consisting of cosmetics, cleaning solvent, lubricants and medicinal materials. 
     
     
         22 . A solvent composition comprising the composition of  claim 1 .
