Abstract
Methods and apparatuses for automatically generating a mobile-optimized website from an existing website are disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An apparatus which generates a web page optimized for a mobile device based on an existing conventional web page description of a conventional web page designed for rendering on a display of a non-mobile device, the conventional web page description describing an arrangement and application of a plurality of individual conventional web page components, the individual conventional web page components corresponding to one or more family of assets, each family of assets comprising a plurality of corresponding individual conventional web page component descriptions which correspond to different parts of a plurality of different products and which are combinable to form a plurality of different yet visually-coordinated products, the apparatus comprising:
one or more processors configured to receive the web page description of the conventional web page, select an individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description, identify a family of assets associated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description, the identified family of assets comprising at least one mobile-optimized web page component description which corresponds to the selected individual conventional web page component description and which is visually coordinated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description; and replace the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description with the selected mobile-optimized component description to generate a mobile-optimized web page description.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises an individual conventional web page component description from the corresponding family of assets that is associated with a product different than a mobile-optimized web page yet is better suited for use in a mobile-optimized web page than the selected individual conventional web page component description.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description comprises a conventional web page header description, and the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises a corresponding mobile-optimized web page header description.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors configured to
save the mobile-optimized component description to serve to a client in place of the conventional web page description when the client is a mobile device client requesting the conventional web page description.
5 . The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the one or more processors execute at a server device, and the server device is operable to communicate with the client at the mobile device and to send the mobile-optimized web page to the client to display on the mobile device.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors execute at a server device, and the server device is operable to communicate with a client at a mobile device and to send the mobile-optimized web page to the client to display on the mobile device.
7 . A method for generating a web page optimized for a mobile device, comprising:
receiving by one or more processors conventional web page description of a conventional web page, the conventional web page description describing an arrangement and application of a plurality of individual conventional web page components, the individual conventional web page components corresponding to one or more family of assets, each family of assets comprising a plurality of corresponding individual conventional web page component descriptions which correspond to different parts of a plurality of different products and which are combinable to form a plurality of different yet visually-coordinated products, selecting by the one or more processors an individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description, identifying by the one or more processors a family of assets associated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description, the identified family of assets comprising at least one mobile-optimized web page component description which corresponds to the selected individual conventional web page component description and which is visually coordinated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description; and replacing by the one or more processors the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description with the selected mobile-optimized component description to generate a mobile-optimized web page description.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises an individual conventional web page component description from the corresponding family of assets that is associated with a product different than a mobile-optimized web page yet is better suited for use in a mobile-optimized web page than the selected individual conventional web page component description.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description comprises a conventional web page header description, and the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises a corresponding mobile-optimized web page header description.
10 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
saving by the one or more processors the mobile-optimized component description to serve to a client in place of the conventional web page description when the client is a mobile device client requesting the conventional web page description.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors execute at a server device, and the server device is operable to communicate with the client at the mobile device and to send the mobile-optimized web page to the client to display on the mobile device.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors execute at a server device, and the server device is operable to communicate with a client at a mobile device and to send the mobile-optimized web page to the client to display on the mobile device.
14 . An apparatus, comprising:
a client device having a display and one or more processors executing a client in communication with a server and a browser on the client, the browser requesting a uniform resource locator of a conventional web page and receiving from the server a mobile-optimized web page generated by the server based on a conventional web page description associated with the requested conventional web page, the browser displaying the received mobile-optimized web page on the display of the client device, wherein the mobile-optimized web page is rendered from a mobile-optimized web page description generated by the server, wherein the server operates to receive the web page description of the conventional web page, select an individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description, identify a family of assets associated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description, the identified family of assets comprising at least one mobile-optimized web page component description which corresponds to the selected individual conventional web page component description and which is visually coordinated with the selected at least one individual conventional web page component description, and replace the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description with the selected mobile-optimized component description to generate the mobile-optimized web page description, and wherein the mobile-optimized web page description is sent by the server to the browser upon request by the browser for the conventional web page.
15 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises an individual conventional web page component description from the corresponding family of assets that is associated with a product different than a mobile-optimized web page yet is better suited for use in a mobile-optimized web page than the selected individual conventional web page component description.
16 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the selected individual conventional web page component description in the received web page description comprises a conventional web page header description, and the selected mobile-optimized component description comprises a corresponding mobile-optimized web page header description.
17 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the server further operates to save the mobile-optimized component description to serve to a client in place of the conventional web page description when the client is a mobile device client requesting the conventional web page description.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
