Abstract
Technologies are generally described for determining a reliability of an online post. In some examples, a method may include identifying from an online post at least one word associated with a place, identifying a location from which the online post was posted, and determining a reliability of the online post based at least in part on the identified word associated with the place and the identified location from which the online post was posted.

1 . A method to detect an incident occurrence based on online posts, comprising:
retrieving online posts that include one or more words associated with a location; determining, of the online posts, a subset of the online posts that were posted from within a predetermined distance from the location; detecting a variation in posting frequency of the subset of online posts; and determining an incident occurrence at the location, based at least on the detected variation in the posting frequency of the subset of online posts.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
triggering an alarm in response to the determining of the incident occurrence at the location.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the detected variation is an increase in the posting frequency of the subset of online posts.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a search request; and identifying the location from the search request; wherein the retrieving of the online posts is in response to the search request in which the location is identified.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
estimating a time and a place of the determined incident occurrence, based at least on the one or more words associated with the location included in the retrieved online posts.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
detecting a respective posting location from which each of the subset of online posts was posted; determining a respective reliability of each of the subset of online posts, based at least on the respective detected posting location; and filtering the subset of online posts based at least on the respective determined reliabilities of each of the subset of online posts.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
estimating a time and place of the determined incident occurrence, based at least on a respective time at which each of the subset of online posts was posted.
8 . A method to detect an incident occurrence based on online posts, the method comprising:
monitoring a variation in posting frequency of online posts that include one or more words associated with a location and that were posted from within a predetermined distance from the location; detecting a sudden increase in the posting frequency of the monitored online posts; determining an incident occurrence at the location, based at least on the detected sudden increase; and triggering an alarm in response to the determining of the incident occurrence at the location.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
receiving a search request; retrieving the online posts that include the one or more words associated with the location, in response to a search request; and identifying the location from the search request.
10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
detecting a respective posting location from which each of the retrieved online posts was posted; determining a respective reliability of each of the retrieved online posts, based at least on the respective posting location; and filtering the retrieved online posts based at least on the respective determined reliabilities.
11 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
estimating a time and a place of the determined incident occurrence, based at least on the one or more words associated with the location included in the online posts.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
estimating a time and place of the detected incident occurrence, based at least on a respective time at which each of the retrieved online posts was posted.
13 . The method of claim 8 ,
detecting a respective posting location from which each of the online posts was posted; determining a respective reliability of each of the retrieved online posts, based at least on the respective detected posting location, wherein the respective determined reliability of each of the retrieved online posts decreases as a distance between the location and the respective detected posting location from which each of the retrieved online posts was posted increases; filtering the retrieved online posts based at least on their respective determined reliabilities; presenting at least a portion of the filtered online posts in order of the respective determined reliabilities; and blocking presentation of the filtered online posts whose respective determined reliabilities are lower than a predetermined value.
14 . A system to detect an incident occurrence from results of searching online posts, comprising:
a computing device; and a non-transitory computer-readable medium including at least one or more instructions that are executable by the computing device to perform operations comprising:
receiving a search request;
identifying a location from the search request;
retrieving online posts that include one or more words associated with the location, in response to the search request;
detecting a respective posting location from which each of the retrieved online posts was posted;
determining a respective reliability of each of the retrieved online posts, based at least on the respective detected posting location, wherein the respective determined reliability of each of the retrieved online posts decreases as a distance between the location and the respective detected posting location from which each of the retrieved online posts was posted increases;
presenting at least a portion of the retrieved online posts in order of the respective determined reliabilities;
determining a posting frequency of the retrieved online posts whose respective determined reliabilities are above a predetermined value; and
determining, based at least on the determined posting frequency, an incident occurrence at the first location.
15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the presenting includes:
filtering the retrieved online posts based at least on the respective determined reliabilities; and blocking presentation of the filtered online posts whose respective determined reliabilities are lower than a predetermined value.
16 . The system of claim 14 , further comprising:
monitoring variation in the posting frequency of the retrieved online posts; and triggering an alarm when the posting frequency of the retrieved online posts increases suddenly.
17 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the determining of the incident occurrence at the location is based at least on an increase in the predetermined frequency of the retrieved online posts.
18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the at least one or more instructions are executable by the computing device to perform operations further comprising:
triggering an alarm in response to the determining of the incident occurrence at the location.
19 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the at least one or more instructions are executable by the computing device to perform operations further comprising:
estimating a time and place of the determined incident occurrence based at least on a respective time at which each of the retrieved online posts was posted.
20 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the at least one or more instructions are executable by the computing device to perform operations further comprising:
identifying from the search request a predetermined distance from the location; wherein the retrieved online posts were retrieved from within the predetermined distance from the location.Cited by (0)
