Host Defense Protein (HDP) Mimetics For Prophylaxis And/Or Treatment Of Inflammatory Diseases Of The Gastrointestinal Tract

Abstract

The present invention provides methods for treating and/or preventing inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract with one or more compounds, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, disclosed herein, and the use of compositions comprising the same.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method of prophylaxis and/or treatment of inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal in need of such prophylaxis and/or treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from PMX-30063 (brilacidin) and PMX-60056 (delparantag) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. 
     
     
         2 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein the disease is inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, collagenous colitis, lymphocytic colitis, Crohn's disease, or irritable bowel syndrome. 
     
     
         3 . A method according to  claim 1  wherein said compound is administered together with an antibiotic. 
     
     
         4 . A method according to claim  7 , wherein the disease is inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, collagenous colitis, lymphocytic colitis, Crohn's disease, or irritable bowel syndrome.
