Claims

Abstract

Tissue restraining systems and devices as well as methods of using these devices are disclosed herein. According to aspects illustrated herein, there is provided a tissue restraining device that may include a first anchor having one or more contact points along a portion of the first anchor in a spaced relation to one another. The tissue restraining device may also include a second anchor for placement in a substantially opposing relation to the first anchor. A restraining matrix may extend from the contact points of the first anchor to the second anchor.

         31 . A tissue restraining device comprising:
 a first anchor comprising:
 a first arm having a first end and a second end and a longitudinal direction along its length between the ends, the first arm having one or more contact points along a portion of the first arm in a spaced relation to one another; 
 a second arm having a first end and a second end and a longitudinal direction along its length between the ends; and 
 an apex connecting the first end of the second arm to the second end of the first arm, the apex configured to bias the arms toward one another in a substantially parallel relation to facilitate pinching a tissue between the arms; 
   a second anchor for placement in a substantially opposing relation to the first anchor; and   a restraining matrix extending from the contact points to the second anchor.   
     
     
         32 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the apex is a hinge configured to force the arms toward one another. 
     
     
         33 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the apex is an end cup. 
     
     
         34 . The device of claim  3 , wherein the end cup comprises a number of channels in communication with an inner lumen for each arm. 
     
     
         35 . The device of claim  1 , wherein both arms have a generally elongated shape with inwardly curved ends. 
     
     
         36 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the device further comprises a shape memory wire extending along the arms, the shape memory wire configured to bias the arms toward one another when the first anchor is deployed. 
     
     
         37 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the first arm is configured to be placed into a coronary sinus, and the second arm is configured to be placed in the left atrium. 
     
     
         38 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the apex is configured to be wedged at a coronary sinus ostium. 
     
     
         39 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the first anchor includes one or more inner lumens. 
     
     
         40 . The device of claim  9 , wherein the inner lumens of the first anchor are designed to accept one or more guidewires such that the first anchor can be delivered to a site of interest over the guidewires. 
     
     
         41 . The device of claim  1  further comprising a sheath designed to be coupled to the first anchor. 
     
     
         42 . The device of claim  11 , wherein the contact points are positioned along a portion of the sheath. 
     
     
         43 . The device of claim  11 , wherein the sheath includes one or more inner lumens. 
     
     
         44 . The device of claim  13 , wherein the contact points are one or more openings in communication with the inner lumens of the sheath to allow the restraining chords to be passed through the inner lumens of the first anchor and out of the plurality of openings. 
     
     
         45 . The device of claim  13 , wherein the inner lumens of the sheath are designed to accept one or more guidewires such that the first anchor can be delivered to a site of interest over the guidewires. 
     
     
         46 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the restraining matrix is formed by one or more restraining chords. 
     
     
         47 . The device of claim  16 , wherein the restraining chords are individually adjustable. 
     
     
         48 . The device of claim  17 , further comprising a locking member disposed adjacent to either the first anchor or the second anchor, the locking member configured to allow each individual restraining chord to be adjusted when the locking member is deactivated. 
     
     
         49 . The device of claim  16 , wherein the restraining matrix further comprises cross-restraint members extending between the plurality of the restraining chords. 
     
     
         50 . The device of claim  1 , wherein the first anchor is shaped to approximate a shape of a tissue or a structure to which the first anchor is to be attached.
