Abstract
Recombinant polynucleotides and recombinant polypeptides useful for improvement of plants are provided. The disclosed recombinant polynucleotides and recombinant polypeptides find use in production of transgenic plants to produce plants having improved properties.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 3 . (canceled)
4 . A plant cell having a recombinant DNA construct comprising a promoter that is functional in said plant cell and is operably linked to a polynucleotide, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence sharing at least 90% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 44,473.
5 . The plant cell according to claim 4 , wherein said recombinant DNA construct is stably integrated into a chromosome in the nucleus of said plant cell.
6 . The plant cell according to claim 4 , wherein said polypeptide has an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 44,473.
7 . The plant cell according to claim 6 , wherein said polypeptide has the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 44,473.
8 . The plant cell according to claim 4 , wherein said recombinant DNA construct provides for an enhanced trait as compared to control plants which do not contain said recombinant DNA; and wherein said enhanced trait is enhanced water use efficiency, enhanced cold tolerance, increased yield, enhanced nitrogen use efficiency, enhanced seed protein, or enhanced seed oil.
9 . The plant cell according to claim 4 , further comprising DNA expressing a protein that provides tolerance from exposure to an herbicide comprising an agent applied at levels that are lethal to a wild type of said plant cell.
10 . The plant cell according to claim 9 , wherein said agent in said herbicide is glyphosate.
11 . A transgenic plant or seed comprising a plurality of plant cells of claim 4 .
12 . The transgenic plant or seed according to claim 11 , which is homozygous for said recombinant DNA.
13 . The transgenic plant or seed according to claim 11 , wherein said plant or seed is soy, cotton, canola, maize, wheat, sunflower, sorghum , alfalfa, barley, millet, rice, tobacco, or turf grass.
14 . A method of growing a transgenic plant comprising:
a) planting a transgenic seed comprising a plurality of plant cells having a recombinant DNA construct comprising a promoter that is functional in said plurality of plant cells and is operably linked to a polynucleotide, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence sharing at least 90% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 44,473; and b) growing a plant from said transgenic seed.
15 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein said polypeptide has an amino acid sequence sharing at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 44,473.
16 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein said polypeptide has the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 44,473.
17 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein said seed is a soy, cotton, canola, maize, wheat, sunflower, sorghum , alfalfa, barley, millet, rice, tobacco, or turf grass seed.
18 . A transgenic plant or seed comprising a recombinant DNA construct, wherein said recombinant DNA construct comprises:
a) an exogenous promoter region which functions in a plant cell to cause the production of a RNA molecule; which is linked to b) a structural nucleic acid molecule, wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 90% sequence identity to a reference sequence, or a complement thereof, of a fragment of at least 20 or more consecutive nucleotides as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 12,909; which is operably linked to c) a 3′ non-translated sequence that functions in said plant to cause the termination of transcription and the addition of polyadenylated ribonucleotides to said 3′ end of said RNA molecule.
19 . The transgenic plant or seed according to claim 18 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 95% sequence identity to said reference sequence, or said complement thereof, of a fragment of at least 20 or more consecutive nucleotides of a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 12,909.
20 . The transgenic plant or seed according to claim 19 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 98% sequence identity to said reference sequence, or said complement thereof, of a fragment of at least 20 or more consecutive nucleotides of a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 12,909.
