Abstract

Present invention teaches the construction of a modular wood panels wherein a back plate, formed by two parallel strips and some rectangular pieces fitted between the two strips, serves to allow a decorative layer to be easily attached, with top-bottom and left-right interlocking mechanism; the use of the back plate materials allows low cost materials because a lot of scrap materials can be used, while contributing to better climate stability, in addition to ease of installation.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Modular wall panel, comprising:
A back plate, the back plate including a first strip and a second strip, said two strips are in a parallel relationship and are fitted with a plurality of rectangular pieces uniformly set in between said two strips, resulting in a generally flat top surface for receiving decorative pieces and a generally flat bottom surface; A plurality of decorative pieces, each of said pieces have a bottom side that's generally flat for attaching to the top surface of said back plate; and Wherein said plurality of decorative pieces form a decorative layer when attached to the top surface of said back plate and extending over the first strip and leaving exposed certain portion of the second strip, so that when two modular wall panels are fitted together with the first strip of a wall panel being adjacent to the second strip of another wall panel, the decorative layer of a first panel will cover the exposed portion of the second strip of another wall panel.

2 . The modular wall panel of claim 1 , wherein the decorative layer has matching left and right edges that are geometrically complementary so that when two modular wall panels area joined together in a horizontal fashion, the left jagged edge of the decorative layer of a first wall panel is fitted to the right jagged edge of the decorative layer of a second wall panel, forming a visually continued surface.

3 . The modular wall panel of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of decorative pieces are fitted to the back plate by glue.

4 . The modular wall panel of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of decorative pieces are fitted to the back plate by nails.

5 . The modular wall panel of claim 1 , wherein the decorative pieces contain uneven surficial texture or topography on the top decorative side.

6 . The modular wall panel of claim 1 , wherein the first and second strips have a curvature to form a back plate conforming to that curvature.
