Abstract

Embodiments of the invention provide a swing-out wall rack for mounting electrical equipment. The swing-out wall rack can include a frame configured to couple to a wall and a rack. The frame can include a vertical member and a horizontal arm. The rack can extend a width and a height. The rack can include a first side and a second side, the second side being opposite from the first side. The rack can further include a mid-point, the mid-point being approximately equidistant from the first side and the second side. The rack can be rotatably coupled to the horizontal arm of the frame substantially about the mid-point of the rack.

         1 . A swing-out wall rack for mounting electrical equipment, the swing-out wall rack comprising:
 a frame comprising:
 a vertical member having a plurality of fastener openings disposed therethrough, each of the plurality of fastener openings receiving a corresponding fastener to couple the frame directly to a wall when the vertical member is disposed against the wall;
 a first horizontal member coupled to the vertical member; and
 a second horizontal member coupled to the vertical member, spaced from the first horizontal member, and substantially parallel to the first horizontal member; and
   a rack configured to store electrical equipment, the rack having a width and a mid-point of the width, the rack being coupled at the mid-point to the first and second horizontal members and configured to rotate around the mid-point and to be locked in:
 a first orientation with respect to the frame; and
 a second orientation with respect to the frame, the second orientation having a different degree of rotation from the first orientation.

         2 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , further comprising a locking pin that engages both the rack and the frame to lock the rack in one or both of the first orientation and the second orientation.

         3 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of locking holes configured in a path such that as the rack rotates with respect to the frame, the locking pin selectively engages one of the plurality of locking holes to lock the rack in one of a plurality of orientations with respect to the frame, the plurality of orientations including the first orientation and the second orientation.

         4 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 2 , wherein the locking pin extends between a first hole in the rack and a second hole in the frame to lock the rack in the first orientation, and wherein the locking pin is retractable to unlock the rack from the first orientation.

         5 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the rack is rotatably coupled to the first horizontal member substantially near the distal end of the first horizontal member.

         6 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the second orientation is disposed 90 degrees from the first orientation.

         7 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the second orientation is disposed more than zero degrees and less than 90 degrees from the first orientation.

         8 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the vertical member comprises a mounting passage that receives a mounting hook coupled to the wall to mount the swing-out wall rack to the wall for coupling to the wall.

         9 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the vertical member comprises a mounting passage, the swing-out wall rack further comprising a mounting hook configured to be coupled to the wall and to receive the frame via the mounting passage, thereby mounting the swing-out wall rack to the wall for coupling to the wall.

         10 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the first horizontal member comprises a first opening disposed therethrough and located to enable one or more cables of the electrical equipment to pass from an interior side of the first horizontal member to an exterior side of the first horizontal member.

         11 . The swing-out wall rack of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first horizontal member comprises a first hole near the distal end; the second horizontal member comprises a second hole near the distal end; and the rack comprises a top side and a bottom side each including the mid-point of the rack, the top side comprising a third hole at the mid-point of the rack and the bottom side comprising a fourth hole at the mid-point of the rack, the rack being rotatably coupled to the first horizontal member by a first fastener passing through the first hole and the third hole, and the rack being rotatably coupled to the second horizontal member by a second fastener passing through the second hole and the fourth hole.

         12 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 wherein the rack has a third orientation that gives the swing-out wall rack a compact size, the rack in the third orientation being parallel to the first horizontal member and the second horizontal member and not extending beyond a distal end of the first horizontal member and a distal end of the second horizontal member.

         13 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 1 , wherein the first horizontal member is configured to rotatably couple to the rack at a first location substantially near a distal end of the first horizontal member and at a second location substantially near a mid-point of the first horizontal member.

         14 . A swing-out wall rack for mounting electrical equipment, the swing-out wall rack comprising:
 a frame that couples to a wall, the frame comprising:
 a vertical member;
 a first horizontal member coupled to the vertical member; and
 a first locking hole;
   a rack configured to store electrical equipment, the rack having a second locking hole, a width, and a mid-point of the width, the rack being coupled at the mid-point to the first horizontal member and configured to rotate around the mid-point and to be locked in a plurality of orientations that are each rotated with respect to the frame; and a locking pin disposable through the first locking hole and the second locking hole together to lock the rack in a first orientation of the plurality of orientations.

         15 . The swing-out wall rack of claim 14 , wherein the locking pin selectively engages both the rack and the frame to lock the rack in either the first orientation or a second orientation of the plurality of orientations.

         16 .
