Abstract

A respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) device is disclosed for treatment of respiratory-related disorders. The RPT device includes a pressure generator, a pneumatic block, a chassis and a device outlet for delivering a supply of flow of gas to a patient interface. The RPT device also comprises an integrated humidifier including a water reservoir. An RPT device is also disclosed that includes a wireless data communication interface integrated with the housing and configured to connect to another device or a network.

32 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the wireless data communication interface is configured to connect to one or more of the Internet and a cellular telephone network.

33 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the wireless data communication interface uses one or more of CDMA, GSM, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a consumer infrared protocol.

34 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , wherein the wireless data communication interface further comprises an antenna ground plane.

35 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 34 , wherein the major axis of the antenna ground plane is vertically oriented to improve efficiency.

36 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 34 , wherein the antenna ground plane comprises one or more notches.

37 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 36 , wherein the notches increase an effective total length of the antenna ground plane.

38 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 37 , wherein the notches increase the effective total length by more than approximately 25%.

39 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , further comprising a central controller configured to control the apparatus, the central controller comprising a main printed circuit board assembly (PCBA),
wherein the data communication interface comprises a data communication interface PCBA that is separate from the main PCBA.

40 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 39 , wherein the antenna ground plane comprises the data communication interface PCBA to improve performance of the antenna.

41 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , where the antenna is located proximal to an outer periphery of the apparatus to improve fidelity and strength of any signal received by or transmitted from the antenna.

42 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 41 , wherein the antenna is located adjacent to an edge of a side panel of the housing.

43 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , further comprising a humidifier within the housing that is located downstream of the pressure generator and upstream of the device outlet.

44 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 43 , wherein the humidifier comprises a water reservoir dock that forms a cavity, and
wherein the humidifier comprises a water reservoir that is configured to be received by and removable from the cavity.

45 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 44 , wherein the humidifier comprises a heater plate in the cavity, and
wherein the water reservoir comprises a reservoir base that includes a base conductor plate to conduct heat from the heater plate.

46 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 31 , further comprising a muffler removably coupled to the housing,
wherein said muffler further comprises a muffler body, an inlet for receiving the flow of air from the pressure generator, an outlet for delivering the flow of air to the device outlet, clips for disengaging the muffler from the housing and a muffler damper comprising a flexible material configured to reduce a noise produced by the apparatus during operation, and wherein the muffler damper comprises a travel limiter configured to prevent plastic deformation of a hinge connecting the clips to the muffler body.

47 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 46 , wherein the travel limiter is formed integrally with the muffler damper.
