Abstract

Recombinant polynucleotides and recombinant polypeptides useful for improvement of plants are provided. The disclosed recombinant polynucleotides and recombinant polypeptides find use in production of transgenic plants to produce plants having improved properties.

         4 . A transgenic plant, or a part thereof, comprising a nucleic acid molecule which comprises:
 (a) an exogenous promoter region which functions in a plant cell to cause the production of an RNA molecule; which is operably linked to   (b) a structural nucleic acid molecule, wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule is capable of being transcribed into an RNA molecule that encodes or suppresses a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence sharing between 100% and 80% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID) NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164; which is operably linked to   (c) a 3′ non-translated sequence that functions in said plant cell to cause the termination of transcription and the addition of one or more adenine ribonucleotides to said 3′ end of said RNA molecule.   
     
     
         5 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 4 , wherein said part is a seed. 
     
     
         6 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 5 , wherein said exogenous promoter region functions in a seed cell. 
     
     
         7 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 4 , wherein said nucleic acid molecule is stably integrated into a chromosome in the nucleus of said plant cell. 
     
     
         8 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 4 , wherein said plant is selected from the group consisting of soy, cotton, canola, maize, wheat, sunflower, sorghum, alfalfa, barley, millet, rice, tobacco, fruit and vegetable crops, teosinte,  Arabidopsis , and turf grass. 
     
     
         9 . The transgenic plant, or part thereof, according to  claim 4 , wherein said polypeptide shares between 100% and 85% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164. 
     
     
         10 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 9 , wherein said polypeptide shares between 100% and 90% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164. 
     
     
         11 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 10 , wherein said polypeptide shares between 100% and 95% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164. 
     
     
         12 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 11 , wherein said polypeptide shares 100% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164. 
     
     
         13 . A method of growing a transgenic plant comprising
 (a) planting a transgenic seed comprising a nucleic acid molecule, said nucleic acid molecule comprises:
 i. an exogenous promoter region which functions in a plant cell to cause the production of an RNA molecule; which is linked to 
 ii. a structural nucleic acid molecule, wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule comprises a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of
 a nucleic acid sequence sharing between 100% and 90% identity to a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582, 
 a nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence sharing between 100% and 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164, and 
 a nucleic acid sequence that is capable of being transcribed into a non-coding RNA molecule that suppresses the expression of a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence sharing between 100% and 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 105,583 through SEQ ID NO: 211,164; which is operably linked to 
 
 iii. a 3′ non-translated sequence that function in said plant cell to cause the termination of transcription and the addition of one or more adenine ribonucleotides to said 3′ end of said RNA molecule; and 
   (b) growing a plant from said seed.   
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 13 , wherein said nucleic acid molecule is stably integrated into a chromosome in the nucleus of said plant cell. 
     
     
         15 . A transgenic plant, or a part thereof, comprising a nucleic acid molecule, said nucleic acid molecule comprises:
 (a) an exogenous promoter region which functions in a plant cell to cause the production of an RNA molecule; which is operably linked to   (b) a structural nucleic acid molecule, wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 90% sequence identity to a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582; which is operably linked to   (c) a 3′ non-translated sequence that functions in said plant cell to cause the termination of transcription and the addition of one or more adenosine ribonucleotides to said 3′ end of said RNA molecule.   
     
     
         16 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 15 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 95% sequence identity with a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582. 
     
     
         17 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 16 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 98% sequence identity with a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582. 
     
     
         18 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 17 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares between 100% and 99% sequence identity with a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582. 
     
     
         19 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 18 , wherein said structural nucleic acid molecule shares 100% sequence identity with a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 through SEQ ID NO: 105,582. 
     
     
         20 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 15 , wherein said part is a seed. 
     
     
         21 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 15 , wherein said plant is selected from the group consisting of soy, cotton, canola, maize, wheat, sunflower, sorghum, alfalfa, barley, millet, rice, tobacco, fruit and vegetable crops, teosinte,  Arabidopsis , and turf grass. 
     
     
         22 . The transgenic plant, or a part thereof, according to  claim 15 , wherein said nucleic acid molecule is stably integrated into a chromosome in the nucleus of said plant cell.
