System for regulating wireless device operations in wireless networks
Abstract
A system for managing the device operation rules that govern a device's operation, includes a profiling server configured to receive data from one or more data sources and a processor to aggregate and analyze the received data to dynamically generate profiles for distribution to a plurality of devices. The devices, which are in communication with the profiling server, being responsive to profiles generated by the profiling server to create, update, or modify the said operation rules and communicate with the profiling server the performance of the said profiles, the said rules, and/or the said device. The system allows the device operation rules to be dynamically updated in accordance with changing network conditions, and also can provide analytics information to third parties.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedThe embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1 . An analytic system for improving or modifying device controller policies used by network access control and/or utilization solutions, comprising:
a server configured to receive data from one or more data sources; and a processor to aggregate and analyze the received data from profiling clients resident on wireless devices, access points, or network management systems to create and/or modify policies used to implement network access control and/or utilization solutions.
2 . A system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the wireless device controller policies include a network and access point priority list.
3 . A system as claimed in claim 2 , which is configured to perform load balancing based on the device controller policies being created and/or modified.
4 . A system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to process the received data into reports that assess the performance of the network access control and/or utilization solutions and its network access control and/or utilization operation rules or policies.
5 . A system as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a dashboard capable of creating and/or modifying existing network access control and/or utilization operation rules to meet the requirements of the system user.
6 . A system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the profiles include quality of service ratings for access points to broadcast that they can offer and instructions as to how mobile handsets should appropriately interpret quality of service ratings being broadcasted by access points.
7 . A system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the profiling servers send quality of service measures or ratings for access points to third party servers communicating with the access points.Cited by (0)
