Providing information based on beacon detection
Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer-readable media storing a computer program, for providing information based on beacon detection. In some implementations, data is received that indicates that a sensor of a mobile device has detected short-range wireless signals that are each transmitted by a respective beacon of a set of beacons that are associated with known physical locations within a particular resource. A tour record is generated based on the data that indicates that the sensor of the mobile device has detected the short range wireless signals that are each transmitted by the respective beacon of the set of beacons that are associated with the known physical locations within a particular resource. The tour record is stored in association with a user of the mobile device and a referral source.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method performed by one or more computers, the method comprising:
receiving, by the one or more computers, data indicating that a sensor of a mobile device has detected short-range wireless signals that are each transmitted by a respective beacon of a set of beacons that are associated with known physical locations within a particular resource; generating, by the one or more computers, a tour record based on the data that indicates that the sensor of the mobile device has detected the short range wireless signals that are each transmitted by the respective beacon of the set of beacons that are associated with the known physical locations within a particular resource; and storing, by the one or more computers, the tour record in association with a user of the mobile device and a referral source.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the one or more computers, the tour record for display at a computing device.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method comprises determining, by the one or more computers, a path that was travelled by the user through the resource based on the received data indicating detection of the detected short range wireless signals.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the method comprises generating, by the one or more computers, a diagram of the path that was travelled by the user through the resource.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein generating the diagram of the path that was travelled by the user through the resource comprises including, in the diagram of the path, a plurality of different visual indicators representing different levels of proximity of the user to at least a portion of resource.
6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein generating the diagram of the path comprises including time references along the path.
7 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the path taken by the user is a first path, and wherein the referral source is a person other than the user of the mobile device;
wherein the method comprises determining, by the one or more computers, a second path travelled by the referral source through the resource during a same time period that the first path was travelled by the user.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the method comprises:
comparing, by the one or more computers, characteristics of the first path travelled by the user with characteristics of the second path of the referral source; and based on the comparison, identifying, by the one or more computers, a connection between the user and the referral source.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying the referral source based on the received data indicating detection of the detected short range wireless signals.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the tour record comprises generating the tour record to include a date and time that the user visited the resource, a duration that the user was at the resource, or one or more particular portions of the resource that the user visited.
11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
obtaining, by the one or more computers, one or more images from one or more cameras located at the resource; and identifying, by the one or more computers and based on the data indicating detection of the detected short range wireless signals, an image from the one or more images that shows a person located at the resource while the user is at the resource.
12 . A method performed by at least one computing device, the method comprising:
receiving data indicating that a sensor of a mobile device has detected a short-range wireless signal that is transmitted by a particular beacon that is associated with a particular resource; determining that, among a set of beacons that are associated with the particular resource, the particular beacon is pre-designated as a point in a tour at which (i) one or more incentives are to be communicated, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited; and in response determining that the particular beacon is pre-designated as a point in the tour in which one or more incentives are to be communicated, providing a user interface through which (i) one or more incentives are provided for output, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the set of beacons comprises multiple beacons spaced apart at different locations of the resource;
wherein the method further comprises:
receiving sets of data indicating that the sensor of the mobile device has detected a different beacon of the multiple beacons; and
in response to receiving each set of data indicating detection of a beacon of the multiple beacons, providing, for output through the user interface, a set of information about the resource that corresponds to the detected beacon, the wherein each of the sets of information are provided for output through the user interface in synchronization with the detection of one of the beacons corresponding to the set of information.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing the user interface comprises providing a user interface that indicates features of the resource located in a portion of the resource where the beacon is located.
15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing the user interface comprises providing audio for output.
16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing a user interface through which (i) one or more incentives are provided for output, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited comprises:
providing a user interface through which one or more incentives are provided for output.
17 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing a user interface through which (i) one or more incentives are provided for output, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited comprises:
providing a user interface through which feedback regarding the resource is solicited.
18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing a user interface through which (i) one or more incentives are provided for output, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited comprises:
providing a user interface that provides a user an option to obtain access to the resource.
19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing a user interface through which (i) one or more incentives are provided for output, or (ii) feedback regarding the resource is solicited comprises:
providing a user interface that prompts a user to provide feedback regarding a referral source or staff member present at the resource.
20 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
aggregating information received from a plurality of users in response to user interfaces provided in response to detecting a short-range signal of the particular beacon; comparing the aggregated information with second aggregated information for a second resource; and providing, for display, an interface indicating results of the comparison of the aggregated information with the aggregated information for the second resource.Cited by (0)
