Abstract

A user can select one or more friendly funding sources to make a payment. The friendly funding sources are pre-approved by a “friend” of the user and have restrictions for use. When the user desires to make a payment, the user sees one or more friendly funding sources and can choose any combination of friendly funding sources and conventional funding sources for making the payment.

What is claimed is:

         1 . A system, comprising:
 a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising:
 receiving, through an account of a first user, a selection of a funding source from a plurality of funding sources, wherein the funding source is shared with an account of a second user;
 determining a restriction, set by the second user, placed on payments by the first user from the funding source, wherein the restriction is not placed on payments by the second user from the funding source;
 determining a payment request by the first user from the funding source is not prohibited by the restriction;
 processing the payment request by the first user from the funding source based at least on the payment request not being prohibited by the restriction; and
 transmitting a notification to a device of the second user based at least on an internet protocol (IP) address of the device, wherein the notification causes the device to display an amount of the processed payment request by the first user from the funding source.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the device of the second user is a mobile phone of the second user,
 wherein the account of the first user is an account with a payment provider used to process payment requests by the first user from the funding source, and wherein the account of the second user is an account with the payment provider used to process payment requests by the second user from the funding source.

         3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the restriction comprises a maximum amount that can be used by the first user.

         4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the restriction comprises a maximum number of payments allowed by the first user from the funding source, the operations further comprising:
 determining a total number of the payments by the first user from the funding source within a given time period; determining the total number of payments within the time period is less than the maximum number, and wherein the payment request is determined not prohibited by the restriction based at least on the total number of payments being less than the maximum number.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the restriction comprises a maximum number of payments allowed by the first user from the funding source, the operations further comprising:
 determining a second restriction that limits an amount, set by the second user, the first user can use from the funding source; determining an amount the first user can use exceeds the amount set by the second user; and identifying a second funding source from the plurality of funding sources based on the amount the first user can use exceeding the amount set by the second user, wherein processing the payment request comprises processing the payment request with the funding source and the second funding source.

         6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 receiving, through the account of the first user, a selection of a second funding source from the plurality of funding sources for the payment request; determining the payment request is not prohibited by any restrictions on the second funding source; and processing the payment request using the first funding source and the second funding source.

         7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the second funding source is shared with an account of a third user, wherein restrictions for use by the first user of the second funding source are set by the third user, and wherein the restrictions do not apply to use of the second funding source by the third user.

         8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the second funding source comprises a credit card, a debit card, or a bank account.

         9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the notification to the device of the second user comprises transmitting an email notification that causes the device to display the amount of the processed payment request.

         10 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:
 identifying a funding source from an account of a first user, wherein the funding source is shared with an account of a second user; determining a restriction by the second user placed on payments by the first user from the funding source; determining a payment request by the first user from the funding source is not prohibited by the restriction; processing the payment request by the first user from the funding source based at least on the payment request not being prohibited by the restriction; and transmitting a notification to a device of the second user, wherein the notification causes the device to display an amount of the payment request by the first user from the funding source.

         11 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the device of the second user is a mobile phone of the second user,
 wherein the account of the first user is an account with a payment provider used to process payment requests by the first user from the funding source, and wherein the account of the second user is an account with the payment provider used to process payment requests by the second user from the funding source.

         12 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein determining the payment by the first user from the funding source comprises determining a payment request by the first user, the operations further comprising:
 determining a user identifier of the first user based on the payment request by the first user; and authenticating the payment request based at least on the user identifier.

         13 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the restriction comprises a maximum number of payments allowed by the first user from the funding source, the operations further comprising:
 determining a total number of the payments by the first user from the funding source within a given time period; determining the total number of payments within the time period is less than the maximum number, and wherein the payment by the first user is determined not prohibited by the restriction based at least on the total number of payments being less than the maximum number,

         14 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the restriction comprises a maximum number of payments by the first user from the funding source, the operations further comprising:
 determining a second restriction that limits an amount, set by the second user, the first user can use from the funding source; determining an amount the first user can use exceeds the amount set by the second user; and identifying a second funding source from the plurality of funding sources based on the amount of the first user can use exceeding the amount set by the second user, wherein processing the payment request comprises processing the payment request with the funding source and the second funding source.
