Systems and methods for providing task-based instructions
Abstract
Systems and methods allow a user to interact with an augmented reality device. In one implementation, a wearable device for providing task-based instructions to a user includes a display; a network interface; a data input device configured to capture information relating to progress of a task; and at least one processing device. The at least one processing device is configured to provide to a server system, via the network interface, the captured information relating to progress of the task; receive from the server system, via the network interface, information relating to a next step in the task; and cause the information relating to the next step in the task to be shown on the display.

23 . A wearable device for providing a user of the wearable device with task-based instructions, the wearable device comprising:
a display; a network interface; and a processing device configured to:
provide to a server system, via the network interface, information relating to a task, wherein the information includes an identifier associated with the wearable device;
receive from the server system, via the network interface, instructions relating to the task that are determined based on the identifier; and
cause the instructions to be shown on the display.
24 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the identifier is used by the server system to determine whether the wearable device meets at least one of a hardware or a software requirement for displaying the instructions.
25 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the identifier includes alphanumeric information identifying the wearable device.
26 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the identifier includes a username and password received from the user.
27 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is further configured to download the instructions from the server system via the network interface before commencement of the task by the user.
28 . The wearable device of claim 27 , further including a storage device configured to store the downloaded instructions.
29 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is further configured to cause the instructions to be shown on the display when the wearable device is offline and not communicating with the server system via the network interface.
30 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is further configured to capture information relating to progress of the task performed by the user.
31 . The wearable device of claim 30 , wherein the processing device is further configured to store the captured information in a storage device when the wearable device is offline and not communicating with the server system via the network interface.

The wearable device of claim 30 , wherein the processing device is further configured to provide the captured information relating to the progress of the task performed by the user to the server system when the wearable device is online and communicating with the server system via the network interface.
33 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is further configured to send an identification code of the task to the server system.
34 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is further configured to provide a passcode input by the user to the server system for the server system to authenticate an identity of the user.
35 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the instructions include information relating to a next step in the task for the user to perform, and wherein the processing device is further configured to cause the information relating to the next step to be shown on the display.
36 . The wearable device of claim 36 , wherein the information relating to the next step shown on the display includes a plurality of options for the user to select.
37 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is configured to determine user confirmation of completion of a step in the task by analyzing an input received from the user.
38 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is configured to send an update to the progress of the task to the server system.
39 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is configured to receive information relating to the task captured by a data input device while a step of the task is being performed, and send the captured information relating to the task to the server system.
40 . The wearable device of claim 23 , wherein the processing device is configured to cause information relating to a next step in the task to be shown on the display after receiving confirmation of completion of a current step.
41 . A method for providing a user of a wearable device with task-based instructions, the method comprising:
providing to a server system, via a network interface, information relating to a task, wherein the information includes an identifier associated with the wearable device; receiving from the server system, via the network interface, instructions relating to the task that are determined based on the identifier; and causing the instructions to be shown on a display.
42 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising downloading the instructions from the server system via the network interface before commencement of the task by the user.
43 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising causing the instructions to be shown on the display to the user when the wearable device is offline and not communicating with the server system via the network interface.
44 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising capturing information relating to progress of the task performed by the user.
45 . The method of claim 44 , further comprising storing the captured information in a storage device when the wearable device is offline and not communicating with the server system via the network interface.
46 . The method of claim 44 , further comprising providing the captured information relating to the progress of the task performed by the user to the server system when the wearable device is online and communicating with the server system via the network interface.
47 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the instructions include information relating to a next step in the task for the user to perform, and wherein the method further comprises causing the information relating to the next step to be shown on the display.
48 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising determining user confirmation of completion of a step in the task by analyzing an input received from the user.
49 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising receiving information relating to the task captured by a data input device while a step of the task is being performed, and sending the captured information relating to the task to the server system.
50 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions executable by at least one processor to perform a method for providing a user of a wearable device with task-based instructions, the method comprising:
providing to a server system, via a network interface, information relating to a task, wherein the information includes an identifier associated with the wearable device; receiving from the server system, via the network interface, instructions relating to the task that are determined based on the identifier; and causing the instructions to be shown on a display.Cited by (0)
