Abstract
In some embodiments, an adjustable putter includes a club body defining a substantially planar face for striking a golf ball, and a hosel including a hosel neck and a hosel adapter configured to be received within a hosel chamber defined by the club body. The hosel adapter defines an interior channel. The adjustable putter also includes a shaft attachable to the hosel neck, and a housing column. The hosel adapter is configured to rotate about the housing column so as to adjust a lie angle of the hosel neck, and the hosel chamber is configured to prevent rotation of the hosel adapter from increasing the lie angle beyond a predetermined value.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An adjustable putter, comprising:
a putter body defining a substantially planar face for striking a golf ball; a hosel including a hosel neck and a hosel adapter configured to be received and positioned within a hosel chamber only at a plurality of predetermined positions wherein the predetermined positions are separated by predetermined distances; and a shaft attachable to the hosel neck; wherein the putter body is characterized by a weight and is configured to enable adjustment of the weight.
2 . The adjustable putter of claim 1 , wherein the hosel adapter includes an edge element and the hosel chamber includes a flange element, the edge element and the flange element cooperating to prevent rotation of the hosel adapter from increasing a lie angle beyond a predetermined value.
3 . The adjustable putter of claim 1 , further including at least one bushing receivable within the hosel chamber;
wherein an offset distance of the shaft relative to the face is adjusted by changing relative positions of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along an axis of the putter body substantially perpendicular to the face.
4 . The adjustable putter of claim 1 wherein the hosel adapter is configured to rotate about an axis so as to adjust a lie angle of the hosel neck and wherein the hosel chamber is configured to prevent rotation of the hosel adapter from increasing the lie angle beyond a predetermined value.
5 . An adjustable putter, comprising:
a club body defining a substantially planar face for striking a golf ball; a hosel including a hosel adapter configured to be received within a hosel chamber defined by the club body; a shaft attachable to the hosel; and at least one bushing being receivable within the hosel chamber; wherein an offset distance of the shaft relative to the face is adjusted by changing relative positions of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along an axis substantially perpendicular to a plane parallel to a plane of the planar face.
6 . The adjustable putter of claim 5 , wherein the hosel adapter defines an interior channel, the adjustable putter further including a housing column configured to be accepted by the interior channel of the hosel adapter wherein the housing column is parallel to the axis.
7 . The adjustable putter of claim 6 , wherein the at least one bushing defines an interior channel, the housing column being configured to be accepted by the interior channel of the at least one bushing.
8 . The adjustable putter of claim 5 , further including an additional bushing receivable within the hosel chamber wherein the offset distance is further adjustable by changing a position of the additional bushing relative to at least one of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along the axis.
9 . The adjustable putter of claim 6 , wherein the housing column is coupled to an interior surface of the hosel chamber.
10 . The adjustable putter of claim 9 , wherein the interior surface is substantially planar and parallel to the plane of the planar face.
11 . An adjustable puffier, comprising:
a putter head defining a substantially planar face for striking a golf ball; a hosel including a hosel adapter configured to be received within a hosel chamber defined by the putter head; and a shaft attachable to the hosel wherein an offset distance of the shaft relative to the substantially planar face is adjustable and wherein the hosel adapter may be received and positioned within the hosel chamber only at a plurality of predetermined positions separated by predetermined distances so as to provide a corresponding plurality of offset distances; wherein the putter head is characterized by a lie angle of the hosel and a weight wherein the putter head is configured to enable adjustment of the lie angle and the weight.
12 . An adjustable puffier, comprising:
a putter head having a face and defining a hosel chamber; a hosel coupled to the putter head; a shaft; and a hosel adapter configured to attach the shaft to the putter head wherein the hosel adapter may be received and positioned within the hosel chamber only at a plurality of predetermined positions wherein the predetermined positions are separated by predetermined distances; wherein the adjustable putter is characterized by a lie angle of the hosel and a weight and is configured to enable adjustment of at least the lie angle and an offset distance of the shaft relative to the face of the puffier head; wherein the offset distance is adjusted by moving the hosel adapter to different ones of the plurality of predetermined positions.
13 . The adjustable puffier of claim 12 wherein the offset distance is adjustable to at least three predetermined configurations including a minimum offset configuration, a zero offset configuration, and a face progression offset configuration.
14 . The adjustable putter of claim 12 wherein the hosel includes one or more hosel flanges configured to limit the lie angle to a predetermined range.
15 . The adjustable puffier of claim 14 wherein the predetermined range is from 58° to 79°.
16 . The adjustable puffier of claim 12 wherein the hosel further includes a hosel neck, the adjustable putter further comprising a housing column wherein the hosel adapter is configured to rotate about the housing column so as to adjust a lie angle of the hosel neck and wherein the hosel chamber is configured to prevent rotation of the hosel adapter from increasing the lie angle beyond a predetermined value.
17 . The adjustable putter of claim 11 further including at least one bushing being receivable within the hosel chamber, the offset distance being adjusted to ones of the plurality of offset distances by changing relative positions of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along an axis substantially perpendicular to a plane parallel to a plane of the planar face.
18 . The adjustable putter of claim 17 , further including an additional bushing receivable within the hosel chamber wherein the offset distance is further adjustable by changing a position of the additional bushing relative to at least one of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along the axis.
19 . The adjustable putter of claim 17 wherein ones of the predetermined distances are defined by a dimension of the at least one bushing.
20 . The adjustable puffier of claim 12 wherein further including at least one bushing being receivable within the hosel chamber defined by the putter head, the offset distance being adjusted by changing relative positions of the hosel adapter and the at least one bushing along an axis substantially perpendicular to a plane parallel to a plane of the planar face.
21 . The adjustable putter of claim 11 wherein adjustment of the lie angle does not affect the offset distance.
22 . The adjustable puffier of claim 12 wherein adjustment of the lie angle does not affect the offset distance.Cited by (0)
