Ingredient based nutritional information
Abstract
Nutritional information of a recipe is gathered to determine a nutritional value table of a food recipe. A computing device may extract and analyze unstructured text of a food recipe to obtain a plurality of ingredients and a quantity of the plurality of ingredients. The computing device may access dietary preferences of a user. The nutritional information of the food recipe may be calculated using the nutritional value of each of the ingredients and complied into a nutritional value table. The recipe may be determined if the recipe corresponds with the dietary preferences of the user. If a recipe does not correspond with the dietary preferences, then an ingredient causes the recipe to not correspond with the dietary preferences is removed from the recipe creating an altered recipe. The nutritional value table of the altered recipe is displayed to the user.
Claims

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the compiling of the nutritional information of the plurality of ingredients comprises:
accessing a database, wherein the database includes:
a nutritional information dictionary, including a list of ingredients and a nutritional indicators per quantity of the ingredients, and
a nutritional value, calculated from the ingredient and a nutrient value per quantity, of the nutritional indicators of the list of ingredients;
gathering the nutritional value of each of the plurality of ingredients from the nutritional information dictionary; and calculating the nutritional information of each of the plurality of ingredients using the quantity of the plurality of ingredients.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein additional ingredients are added to the nutritional information dictionary comprising:
adding a second ingredient; accessing the nutritional information of the second ingredient; and updating the nutritional information dictionary of the database.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first ingredient of the non-corresponding food recipe includes a nutritional indicator that does not correspond with the dietary preferences of the user.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the first ingredient is displayed to the user.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein altering the food recipe by removing the first ingredient includes substituting the first ingredient with a second ingredient.
7 . The method of claim 6 , substituting the first ingredient with the second ingredient comprises:
alerting the user that the first ingredient does not correspond with the dietary preferences; accessing a substitution dictionary of substitutable ingredients; determining whether the second ingredient is present in the substitution dictionary; adding the second ingredient to the food recipe; and updating the nutritional value table of the food recipe with the second ingredient.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein adding the second ingredient includes adding the second ingredient and a respective quantity to the plurality of ingredients.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein analyzing the unstructured text of a food recipe includes:
determining a number of servings using text analytics.
10 . A system for determining nutritional information using text analytics comprising:
a memory; a processor device communicatively coupled to the memory; and an application communicatively couple to the processor device and stored on the memory wherein the application is configured to:
analyze an unstructured text of a food recipe as instructions for preparing a meal to obtain:
a plurality of ingredients, and
a quantity of each of the plurality of ingredients,
access a dietary preferences of a user,
calculate a nutritional information of each of the plurality of ingredients using the quantity of the plurality of ingredients within the food recipe,
compile the nutritional information of the plurality of ingredients into a nutritional value table,
determine whether the food recipe corresponds with the dietary preferences of the user, wherein a non-corresponding food recipe includes a first ingredient from the plurality of ingredients that does not correspond with the dietary preferences of the user,
alter, in response to determining a non-corresponding food recipe, the food recipe by removing the first ingredient, and
display the altered food recipe as a second nutritional value table.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the application is configured to compile the nutritional information of the plurality of ingredients by:
accessing a database, wherein the database includes:
a nutritional information dictionary, including a list of ingredients and a nutritional indicators per quantity of the ingredients, and
a nutritional value, calculated from the ingredient and a nutrient value per quantity, of the nutritional indicators of the list of ingredients;
gathering the nutritional value of the plurality of ingredients from the nutritional information dictionary; and calculating the nutritional information of each of the plurality of ingredients using the quantity of the plurality of ingredients.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the application is configured to add a second ingredient to the nutritional information dictionary by:
adding a second ingredient; accessing the nutritional information of the second ingredient; and updating the nutritional information dictionary of the database.
13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the application alters the food recipe by removing the first ingredient further comprises substituting the first ingredient with a second ingredient.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein substituting the first ingredient with the second ingredient includes:
alerting the user that the first ingredient does not correspond with the dietary preferences; accessing a substitution dictionary of substitutable ingredients; determining whether the second ingredient is present in the substitution dictionary; adding the second ingredient to the food recipe; and updating the nutritional value table of the food recipe with the second ingredient.
15 . A computer program product for determining nutritional information using text analytics comprising a computer readable storage medium having a computer readable application stored therein, wherein the computer readable application, when executed on a computing device, causes the computing device to:
analyze an unstructured text of a food recipe as instructions for preparing a meal to obtain:
a plurality of ingredients, and
a quantity of each of the plurality of ingredients;
access dietary preferences of a user; calculate a nutritional information of each of the plurality of ingredients using the quantity of the plurality of ingredients within the food recipe; compile the nutritional information of the plurality of ingredients into a nutritional value table; determine whether the food recipe corresponds with the dietary preferences of the user, wherein a non-corresponding food recipe includes a first ingredient from the plurality of ingredients that does not correspond with the dietary preferences of the user; alter, in response to determining a non-corresponding food recipe, the food recipe by removing the first ingredient; display the altered food recipe as a second nutritional value table.
16 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the computer readable application causes the computer to compile the nutritional value by:
accessing a database, wherein the database includes:
a nutritional information dictionary, including a list of ingredients and a nutritional indicators per quantity of the ingredients, and
a nutritional value, calculated from the ingredient and a nutrient value per quantity, of the nutritional indicators of the list of ingredients;
gathering the nutritional value of the plurality of ingredients from the nutritional information dictionary; and calculating the nutritional information of each of the plurality of ingredients using the quantity of the plurality of ingredients.
17 . The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the computer readable application causes a computing device to add a second ingredient to the nutritional information dictionary by:
adding a second ingredient comprising: accessing the nutritional information of the second ingredient; and updating the nutritional information dictionary of the database.
18 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein computer readable application cause the computing device to alter the food recipe by removing the first ingredient further comprises substituting the first ingredient with a second ingredient.
19 . The computer program product of claim 18 , wherein substituting the first ingredient with the second ingredient comprises:
