Abstract
Inflatable medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. The inflatable medical devices can be medical balloons. The balloons can be configured to have a through-lumen or no through-lumen and a wide variety of geometries. The device can have a high-strength, non-compliant, fiber-reinforced, multi-layered wall. The inflatable medical device can be used for angioplasty, kyphoplasty, percutaneous aortic valve replacement, or other procedures described herein.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWe claim:
1 . A medical balloon for performing an angioplasty, comprising:
a body including a wall having an inner layer, an outer layer, and an intermediate layer at least partially between the inner and outer layer, at least the intermediate layer comprising a radiopaque foil.
2 . The balloon of claim 1 , further including an adhesive for laminating the foil to the inner or outer layer.
3 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is provided on a first portion of the balloon.
4 . The balloon of claim 3 , wherein the first portion comprises a cylindrical portion of the balloon.
5 . The balloon of claim 3 , wherein the first portion comprises a tapered portion of the balloon.
6 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein a fiber is provided between the inner layer and the outer layer.
7 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil comprises a material selected from the group consisting of gold, platinum, platinum-iridium alloy, tantalum, palladium, bismuth, barium, tungsten, or combinations thereof.
8 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is less than about 30 μm thick
9 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is less than about 20 μm thick.
10 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is about 15 μm thick.
11 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is about 12 μm thick.
12 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is about 10 μm thick.
13 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the foil is about 8 μm thick.
14 . The balloon of claim 1 , wherein the body is non-compliant.
15 . A medical balloon for performing an angioplasty, comprising:
a body including a wall having an inner layer, an outer layer, and a radiopaque foil therebetween.
16 . The balloon of claim 15 , wherein the radiopaque foil comprises a single continuous layer.
17 . An apparatus comprising:
a medical balloon; and a radiopaque foil having a removable backing.Cited by (0)
