Abstract
Methods and apparatus to present supplemental media on a second screen are disclosed. An example method includes establishing a connection between a digital media device and a computing device based on information identifying the computing device and, in response to establishing the connection, receiving, at the computing device, a first notification from the digital media device including a location of supplemental media; accessing the supplemental media; and in response to accessing the supplemental media, sending a second notification that the supplemental media has been accessed, the second notification to enable media skipping on the digital media device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computing device, comprising:
a user interface to receive information identifying a digital media device; and a supplemental media presentation application to:
register the computing device with the digital media device in response to establishing a connection with the digital media device;
receive, via a communication channel, a first notification from the digital media device including a location of supplemental media;
access, via the communication channel, the supplemental media; and
in response to accessing the supplemental media, send a second notification, via the communication channel, to inform the digital media device that the supplemental media has been accessed, the second notification to enable media skipping on the digital media device.
2 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the supplemental media presentation application is to register the computing device with the digital media device by sending the information identifying the computing device to the digital media device and displaying a security code in the user interface.
3 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the media skipping is responsive to a command from a remote control device different than the computing device.
4 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the computing device is a mobile device.
5 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the location of the supplemental media is at a remote site different from the digital media device.
6 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the communication channel is a wireless communication channel.
7 . The computing device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the supplemental media presentation application is to display the supplemental media on the computing device.
8 . A method comprising:
receiving, through a user interface implemented by a computing device, information identifying a digital media device; sending, by executing an instruction with a processor of the computing device, a connection request to the digital media device, the connection request including information identifying the computing device; in response to establishing a connection with the digital media device, registering, by executing an instruction with the processor, the computing device with the digital media device; receiving, at the computing device, a first notification from the digital media device including a location of supplemental media; accessing, by executing an instruction with the processor, the supplemental media; and in response to accessing the supplemental media, sending, by executing an instruction with the processor, a second notification to inform the digital media device that the supplemental media has been accessed, the second notification to enable media skipping on the digital media device.
9 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the registering of the computing device with the digital media device includes sending the information identifying the computing device to the digital media device and displaying a security code in the user interface.
10 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the media skipping is responsive to a command from a remote control device different than the computing device.
11 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the computing device is a mobile device.
12 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the location of the supplemental media is at a remote site different from the digital media device.
13 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the computing device communicates with the digital media device using a wireless communication channel.
14 . The method as defined in claim 8 , further including displaying the supplemental media on the computing device in response to accessing the supplemental media.
15 . A tangible computer readable storage medium comprising computer readable instructions which, when executed, cause a processor of a computing device to at least:
receive, through a user interface implemented by the computing device, information identifying a digital media device; send a connection request to the digital media device, the connection request including information identifying the computing device; in response to establishing a connection with the digital media device, register the computing device with the digital media device; receive, at the computing device, a first notification from the digital media device including a location of supplemental media; access the supplemental media; and in response to accessing the supplemental media, send a second notification to inform the digital media device that the supplemental media has been accessed, the second notification to enable media skipping on the digital media device.
16 . The tangible computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to register the computing device with the digital media device by sending the information identifying the computing device to the digital media device and displaying a security code in the user interface.
17 . The tangible computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 15 , wherein the media skipping is responsive to a command from a remote control device different than the computing device.
18 . The tangible computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 15 , wherein the location of the supplemental media is at a remote site different from the digital media device.
19 . The tangible computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 15 , wherein the computing device communicates with the digital media device using a wireless communication channel.
20 . The tangible computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 15 , further including displaying the supplemental media on the computing device in response to accessing the supplemental media.Cited by (0)
