Method and apparatus for fixation of implantable devices adjacent a body lumen

Abstract

The present application relates to method and apparatus for reducing migration and rotation of implantable devices including an expandable element and an elongate portion.

         2 . An implantable device for implantation into tissue adjacent to a body lumen, comprising:
 an expandable element connected to an elongate conduit, the elongate conduit adapted to provide for a plurality of lumens comprising a first inner lumen for fluid communication between a first end of the elongate conduit and the expandable element at a second end and a second inner lumen; and   a stiffener to prevent or reduce rotation of the device after implantation.   
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener comprises an annular ring with an aperture for filling the expandable element. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener is in a lumen of the device. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener is of varying stiffness. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 5  wherein the stiffener provides for more stiffening at the distal end than at the proximal end of the implantable device. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener is configured to be placed in a third inner lumen of the implantable device. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener is configured to be placed in the second lumen which second lumen is used to position the implantable device. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener comprises a coil disposed within the elongate conduit. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the stiffener comprises a coil that is external to the elongate conduit. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the device comprises a material on a surface thereof that is adapted to enhance ingrowth.
