Abstract

Methods and systems for retrieving information from an unrelated application that includes receiving automatically, non-programmatically collected application data from a mapped location of a mapped source reference of the unrelated application; querying a computer-readable storage medium collected application data without user intervention; retrieving identifying data associated with documents stored in the computer-readable storage medium based upon the query; monitoring the collected application data from the mapped location for a change in the collected application data; and upon detecting the change, re-querying the computer-readable storage medium using the changed collected application data and retrieving identifying data associated with the documents based upon the re-query.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A processor readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method of application integration, the method comprising:
selecting an application plan for an application executing on the computer; identifying, using the application plan, if a display generated by the application contains one or more previously mapped locations within the display; when the display contains at least one previously mapped location based on the application plan, automatically and continuously collecting application data from at least one of the previously mapped locations in the display generated by the application; using the collected application data, querying a computer-readable storage medium for one or more documents without user intervention; retrieving identifying data associated with the one or more documents based upon the query; monitoring the collected application data from the mapped location for a change in the collected application data; upon detecting the change, re-querying the computer-readable storage medium using the changed collected application data and retrieving identifying data associated with the one or more documents having properties matching the changed collected application data; and displaying the one or more documents having properties matching the changed collected application data, wherein the mapped location is a spatial location of information in the display generated by the application.

2 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises automatically notifying a user of the retrieved identifying data.

3 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying the user of the retrieved identifying data comprises displaying a list of the one or more documents corresponding to the retrieved identifying data.

4 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying the user of the retrieved identifying data comprises displaying a thumbnail of the one or more documents corresponding to the retrieved identifying data.

5 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying the user of the retrieved identifying data comprises displaying a visual indicator.

6 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying the user of the retrieved identifying data comprises playing an audio signal.

7 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying a user of the retrieved identifying data comprises indicating a total number of the one or more documents associated to the retrieved identifying data.

8 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 2 , wherein the notifying a user of the retrieved identifying data comprises providing metadata corresponding to the one or more documents associated with the retrieved identifying data.

9 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the computer-readable storage medium is a database.

10 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the computer-readable storage medium is a file system.

11 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises retrieving the one or more documents associated with the identifying data.

12 . The processor readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the retrieved document is based upon user input.

13 . One or more computer readable memories containing a computer program that is executable by a processor to perform a method of application integration, the method comprising:
selecting an application plan for an application executing in a computing device; determining, based on the application plan, if a display generated by the application contains one or more previously mapped locations within the display; when the display contains at least one previously mapped location based on the application plan, automatically and continuously collecting application data from the at least one previously mapped location; querying a computer-readable storage medium using the collected application data without user initiation; retrieving identifying data associated with the plurality of documents based upon the query; monitoring collected application data from the mapped location for a change in the collected application data; re-querying the computer-readable storage medium using the changed collected application data and retrieving identifying data associated with the plurality documents having properties matching the changed collected application data upon detecting the change; and displaying the plurality of documents having properties matching the changed collected application data, wherein the mapped location is a logical location of data in the mapped source reference of the application.

14 . A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method retrieving information from an unrelated application, the method comprising:
selecting an application plan for the unrelated application executing on the computer; determining, using the application plan, if a display generated by the unrelated application contains one or more previously mapped locations; when the application plan determines that the display contains at least one previously mapped location, receiving automatically and continuously collected application data from a mapped location of the display generated by the unrelated application; querying a computer-readable storage medium using the received automatically and continuously collected application data without user intervention; retrieving identifying data associated with documents stored in the computer-readable storage medium based upon the query; monitoring the automatically and continuously collected application data from the mapped location for a change in the automatically and continuously collected application data; and upon detecting the change, re-querying the computer-readable storage medium using the changed automatically and continuously collected application data and retrieving identifying data associated with the documents having properties matching the changed automatically and continuously collected data; and displaying the documents having properties matching the changed automatically and continuously collected data, wherein the mapped location is at least one of a spatial location of data in a display of the application, and a logical location of information in the mapped source reference of the application.
