Abstract

A method of incapacitating a human or animal by providing an inhalable formulation including a cannabinoid, and a delivery system to induce an incapacitating or immobilizing dose at a distance. Providing the formulation including an antipsychotic to prevent or mitigate induced psychosis of the recipient.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method of incapacitating a human or animal comprising the steps of:
providing a formulation including a cannabinoid; and providing a delivery system for dosing the recipient via inhalation at a distance with the cannabinoid formulation resulting in a tetrahydrocannabinol blood level in the recipient of greater than one-to-fifty milligrams per milliliter of whole blood (1-50 mg/ml) and below a dosage which causes irreparable harm to or the death of the recipient; and immobilizing the recipient by using the delivery system to dose the recipient with said formulation.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the formulation includes at least one anesthetic from the group consisting of benzodiapines, diprivan, barbiturates, opiates, thiopental, ketamine, desflurane, isoflurane, nitrous oxide, sevoflurane, xenon, and combinations thereof.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the formulation includes at least one antipsychotic from the group consisting of antipsychotic or neroleptic formulations including butyrophenones, phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, atypical antipsychotics, second-generation antipsychotics, and combinations thereof.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivery system comprises a fluid, mist, vapor, gas, aerosol, liquid, gel, cream, or semi-solid.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivery system is from the group consisting of non-lethal or less-than-lethal weapons such as slingshots, mace, mace guns, aerosol-canisters, air-guns, paint-ball guns, flash-bag grenades, stun-shock grenades, gas canisters, deployable gas canisters, and combinations thereof.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivery system is from the group consisting of lethal weapons such as single-shot, semi-automatic, or fully-automatic revolvers, pistols, shotguns, scatterguns, rifles, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, mortars, light artillery, heavy artillery, missile launchers, and combinations thereof.

7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the delivery system comprises an air-borne platform.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivery system comprises an inhalant.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the formulation includes a cannabinoid emulsified in sesame oil, polysorbate 80 or a saline vehicle.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the concentration of the cannabinoid in the formation ranges from 15 mg/ml to 40 mg/ml.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of the cannabinoid provided to the human or animal ranges from 1.0 mg to 25 mg.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of the cannabinoid provided to the human or animal ranges from 5.0 mg to 100 mg.

13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the cannabinoid formulation includes less than 9200 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol per kg of body weight of the recipient, such that the dose administered to the recipient is a non-lethal dose.

14 . A method of incapacitating or immobilizing a human or animal comprising:
providing a formulation including a cannabinoid; providing a delivery system comprising a mucosa sorption step capable of dosing the recipient with the formulation at a distance which renders a recipient incapacitated or immobilized after dosing, and wherein the recipient remains incapacitated or immobilized for a long period of time-after dosing without irreparable harm to or the death of the recipient; and immobilizing the recipient by using the delivery system to dose the recipient with said formulation.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the delivery system comprises an air-borne platform.

16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the delivery system provides the formulation to the recipient without the recipient's knowledge until the onset of incapacitation of the recipient caused by the formulation.

17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the amount of the cannabinoid provided to the human or animal ranges from 1.0 mg to 25 mg.

18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the amount of the cannabinoid provided to the human or animal ranges from 5.0 mg to 100 mg.

19 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the cannabinoid formulation includes less than 9200 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol per kg of body weight of the recipient, such that the dose administered to the recipient is a non-lethal dose.

20 . A method of incapacitating a human or animal comprising the steps of:
providing a formulation including a cannabinoid; and providing a delivery system comprising an inhalation step for dosing the recipient at a distance with the cannabinoid formulation resulting in a tetrahydrocannabinol blood level in the recipient of approximately twenty-five to fifteen-hundred milligrams per kilogram of body weight (25 mg-1500 mg/kg) and below a dosage which causes irreparable harm to or the death of the recipient; and immobilizing the recipient by using the delivery system to dose the recipient with said formulation.

21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the formulation dose to an adult human weighting between 50 and 120 kg includes between 250 to 2500 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol.
