Abstract

Peel-Reclose packaging material formed using an adhesive label in combination with laser scoring technology. The adhesive label is applied over laser scored material before or after the laser score forms a pattern smaller than the adhesive label. The adhesive label and laser scored packaging material can then be opened and resealed. In one embodiment the adhesive label in combination with the packaging material has tamper resistant features.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A peel-reclose package using an adhesive label, comprising:
a packaging material; a pressure sensitive adhesive label on a surface of the packaging material, said adhesive label having an outer shape and having reclosable adhesive, and having a pull tab at one portion which allows pulling the adhesive label to separate the adhesive label from the packaging material; said surface of the packaging material having an opening in an area of the adhesive label where said opening defines an intricate shape, where said intricate shape has a first layout of pieces of the shape prior to the initial opening of the package by an end-user, where said first layout of pieces extends within a single plane, and where said first layout has a structure that is not capable of being returned into said initial configuration in said single plane when closed after the initial opening, the shape of the label causes the label to have a shape and structure that forces portions to extend above and outside of said single plane of the package when reclosed after being once opened; and said shape has a smaller outer dimensions than an outer shape of the adhesive label.

2 . The package in claim 1 , wherein said package has a feature that stops the separated packaging material attached to the label from tearing off which includes first and second hook shapes, at first and second ends of said shape, with said hooks being curved and each hook having an end facing in a different direction from an opening direction in which the label is opened and each hook shape has a curved end extending from the flap towards an outer edge of the label which is closest to said flap, and away from the other hook shape, where the curved ends extend in opposite directions toward said outer edges of the label.

2 . The package as in claim 1 , wherein said shape comprises multiple extending parts which are close to one another.

3 . The package of claim 1 , wherein said shape includes multiple different parts that interlock with one another in an original configuration, and do not interlock with one another when readhered.

4 . The package as in claim 1 , wherein the adhesive label material is formed of a material that is laser transmissive, so that a laser passes through, but does not cut through said adhesive label material.

5 . The package as in claim 1 , wherein the packaging material has laser barrier materials therein which allow partial cutting through by a laser, but do not allow complete cut through by the laser.

6 . The package as in claim 4 , wherein the packaging material includes a first laser cuttable layer, and a barrier layer, below said first laser-cuttable layer, said barrier layer that protects against cutting by a laser.

7 . The package as in claim 1 , wherein said intricate shape is a zigzag pattern which once removed from its initial configuration cannot fit back into the packaging in that initial configuration.

8 . A peel-reclose package using an adhesive label, comprising:
a packaging material; a pressure sensitive adhesive label on a surface of the packaging material, said adhesive label having an outer shape and having reclosable adhesive, and having a pull tab at one portion which allows pulling the adhesive label to separate the adhesive label from the packaging material; said surface of the packaging material having an opening in an area of the adhesive label where said opening is formed of first and second sides, and a portion of the packaging material which does not form an opening, to form a hinged flap with sides of the flap formed of said first and second sides, said hinged flap having a feature that stops the label that is hinged from tearing off from the remaining label parts, wherein said feature that stops the separated packaging material attached to the label from tearing off includes first and second hook shapes formed by cuts on the label, and each hook shape has a curved end extending from the flap towards an outer edge of the label which is closest to said flap, and away from the other hook shape, and away from the first and second sides, and where the curved ends extend in opposite directions toward said outer edges of the label and each hook having an end facing in a different direction from an opening direction in which the label is opened.

9 . The package as in claim 8 , wherein at least part of said sides is cut into an intricate shape, where said intricate shape has a first layout of pieces of the shape prior to the initial opening of the package by an end-user, where said first layout of pieces extends within a single plane,
and where said first layout has a structure that is not capable of being returned into said initial configuration in said single plane when closed after the initial opening, the shape of the label causes the label to have a shape and structure that forces portions to extend above and outside of said single plane of the package when reclosed after being once opened.

10 . The package as in claim 9 , wherein said shape comprises multiple extending parts which are close to one another.

11 . The package of claim 9 , wherein said shape includes multiple different parts that interlock with one another in an original configuration, and do not interlock with one another when readhered.

12 . The package as in claim 8 , wherein the adhesive label material is formed of a material that is laser transmissive, so that a laser passes through, but does not cut through said adhesive label material.

13 . The package as in claim 8 , wherein the packaging material has laser barrier materials therein which allow partial cutting through by a laser, but do not allow complete cut through by the laser.

14 . The package as in claim 12 , wherein the packaging material includes a first laser cuttable layer, and a barrier layer, below said first laser-cuttable layer, said barrier layer that protects against cutting by a laser.

15 . The package as in claim 8 , wherein said intricate shape is a zigzag pattern which once removed from its initial configuration cannot fit back into the packaging in that initial configuration.
