Abstract
A method for the purification of lecithin, comprising the steps of: a. reducing the viscosity of lecithin to a viscosity of less than about 10 Pa·s; than b. mixing the lecithin with granulated active carbon; then c. separating the lecithin from the granulated active carbon and recover purified lecithin. Lecithin substantially free of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons, and a food or feed product comprising said lecithin.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 18 . (canceled)
19 . A lecithin in liquid form which is substantially free of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons.
20 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is produced from soybean oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, palm oil, or rapeseed oil.
21 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is a hydrolyzed lecithin, an acetylated lecithin or a hydroxylated lecithin.
22 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is a phosphatidyl choline (PC) rich lecithin.
23 . The lecithin of claim 22 , wherein said PC is in a concentration of at least about 30 wt %.
24 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin comprises an acetone insolubles (AI) concentration of between about 50 wt % and about 98 wt %.
25 . The lecithin of claim 24 , wherein the PC content of said lecithin is at least 30 wt % of the amount of AI.
26 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin comprises an amount of PAH4 less than about 10 μg/Kg.
27 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin comprises an amount of benzo(a)pyrene of less than 2 μg/Kg.
28 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is substantially free of pesticides.
29 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is substantially free of organic solvent.
30 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is substantially free of particulates.
31 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin has a turbidity of less than about 10 NTU.
32 . The lecithin of claim 19 , wherein said lecithin is transparent.
33 . A food product, preferably an infant food product, or a feed product, comprising the lecithin of claim 19 .Cited by (0)
