System and method for wireless biosensor monitoring
Abstract
A system and method for monitoring a physical parameter of a subject is provided. The system may include a casing with a sensor coupled to the casing. The sensor may be configured to detect a physical parameter of the subject. The physical parameter may include a chemical parameter of the subject. The system includes an endoscopic clip coupled to the casing and may include a wireless transmitter for transmitting a signal via a wireless medium. The signal encodes the physical parameter of the subject detected by the sensor and the wireless transmitter is electronically connected to the endoscopic clip. The system may further include a monitor configured to communicate with the wireless transmitter for receiving the signal encoding the physical parameter of the subject.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for monitoring a physical parameter of a subject, comprising:
coupling a wireless biosensor device (WBD) to an endoscopic clipping device, the WBD including a casing and a sensor coupled to the casing, the sensor being configured to detect a physical parameter of the subject and transmit the detected physical parameter; inserting the WBD into a gastrointestinal (GI) tract of the subject using the clipping device; mounting the WBD to the GI tract of the subject using the clipping device; and receiving data from the WBD.
2 . The method of claim 1 , including querying the WBD to cause the WBD to exit a low-power mode.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the WBD includes a second endoscopic clipping device and including connecting the second endoscopic clipping device to the GI tract of the subject.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the WBD is mounted proximate to a wound and including detecting a bleeding state of the wound using the WBD.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the sensor includes an optical sensor and detecting the bleeding state of the wound includes sensing fluorescence of a medical biomarker using the optical sensor.
6 . The method of claim 4 , including cauterizing the wound using the WBD.
7 . The method of claim 1 , including coupling a second wireless biosensor device (WBD) to a second endoscopic clipping device and configuring the WBD and the second WBD to wirelessly communicate therebetween.
8 . A system for monitoring a physical parameter of a subject, the system comprising:
a casing; a sensor coupled to the casing, the sensor being configured to detect a physical parameter of the subject; and an endoscopic clip coupled to the casing.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the sensor includes a Microelectromechanical System (MEMS) pressure sensor.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the sensor includes at least one of a pH sensitive transistor and a cylindrical hydrogel based pH sensor.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the sensor includes a photonic integrated circuit (PIC), photo sensor, or filtered photosensor.
12 . The system of claim 8 , including a wireless transmitter for transmitting a signal via a wireless medium, the signal encoding the physical parameter of the subject detected by the sensor and the wireless transmitter being electronically connected to the endoscopic clip.
13 . The system of claim 12 , including a monitor configured to communicate with the wireless transmitter for receiving the signal encoding the physical parameter of the subject.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the monitor communicates with the wireless transmitter using a wireless communication network configured in accordance with an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.15.4 standard.
15 . A system for monitoring a physical parameter of a subject, the system comprising:
a casing; a sensor coupled to the casing, the sensor being configured to detect a physical parameter of the subject; and a fastening mechanism coupled to the casing for securing the sensor within a gastrointestinal (GI) tract of the subject.
16 . The system of claim 15 , including a wireless transmitter for transmitting a signal via a wireless medium, the signal encoding the physical parameter of the subject detected by the sensor.
17 . The system of claim 16 , including a monitor configured to communicate with the wireless transmitter for receiving the signal encoding the physical parameter of the subject.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the monitor communicates with the wireless transmitter using a wireless communication network configured in accordance with an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.15.4 standard.
19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the fastening mechanism includes at least one of a wire arm clip, and an endoscopic clip.
20 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the sensor is configured to communicate with other deployed sensors to form a network of internal sensors and connect to external communication networks to report on detected physical parameters of the subject.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
