Abstract

Methods and systems are provided for use of tunable bandwidths. An example system may comprises a plurality of filters, with each of filters being configured for filtering signals corresponding to a particular frequency band associated with a particular stream. One or more adjustments may be determined and applied to one or more of the plurality of filters. The adjustments may comprise modifications to at least one frequency band associated with at least one of the plurality of filters. Leakage affecting the plurality of filters may be measured or estimated, and a compensation adjustment applicable to particular transmitted and/or received signals may be determined based on measured or estimated leakage. The leakage may be estimated based on analysis of digital baseband signals corresponding to transmitted and/or received signals.

         21 . A method, comprising:
determining one or more adjustments that are applicable to a plurality of filters, wherein:
each of the plurality of filters is configured for filtering signals corresponding to a particular frequency band associated with a particular stream; and
the one or more adjustments comprise modifications to at least one frequency band associated with at least one of the plurality of filters; and applying the one or more adjustments to the one or more of the plurality of filters.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the one or more adjustments comprise adjustments to one or more cut-off frequencies applicable to one or more of the plurality of filters.

23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein at least one stream handled via the plurality of filters comprises a cable upstream; and comprising applying low-pass filtering via a corresponding one of the plurality of filters.

24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein at least one stream handled via the plurality of filters comprises a cable downstream; and comprising applying high-pass filtering via a corresponding one of the plurality of filters.

25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein at least one stream handled via the plurality of filters comprises a Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) stream; and comprising applying band-pass filtering via a corresponding one of the plurality of filters.

26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein applying at least some of the one or more adjustments to at least another one of the plurality of filters that handles at least one other stream requires at least one modification to the particular one of the plurality of filters that handles the MoCA stream.

27 . The method of claim 21 , comprising measuring or estimating leakage affecting the plurality of filters.

28 . The method of claim 27 , comprising estimating the leakage based on analysis of digital baseband signals corresponding to transmitted and/or received signals.

29 . The method of claim 27 , comprising determining based on the leakage, a compensation adjustment that is applicable to particular transmitted and/or received signals.

30 . The method of claim 29 , wherein applying the compensation adjustment comprises subtracting it from the particular signals.

         31 . A system, comprising:
a plurality of filters, wherein each of the plurality of filters is configured for filtering signals corresponding to a particular frequency band associated with a particular stream; and at least one processing circuit operable to:
determine one or more adjustments, wherein the one or more adjustments comprise modifications to at least one frequency band associated with at least one of the plurality of filters; and
apply the one or more adjustments to the one or more of the plurality of filters.

32 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the one or more adjustments comprise adjustments to one or more cut-off frequencies applicable to one or more of the plurality of filters.

33 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the plurality of filters comprises a reprogrammable low-pass filter (LPF) operable to handle a cable upstream.

34 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the plurality of filters comprises a reprogrammable high-pass filter (HPF) operable to handle a cable downstream.

35 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the plurality of filters comprises a reprogrammable band-pass filter (BPF) operable to handle a Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) stream.

36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein applying at least some of the one or more adjustments to at least another one of the plurality of filters that handles at least one other stream requires at least one modification to the reprogrammable band-pass filter (BPF) that handles the MoCA stream.

37 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the at least one processing circuit is operable to determine leakage affecting the plurality of filters.

38 . The system of claim 37 , wherein the at least one processing circuit is operable to estimate the leakage based on analysis of digital baseband signals corresponding to signals transmitted and/or received by the system.

39 . The system of claim 37 , wherein the at least one processing circuit is operable to determine based on the leakage, a compensation adjustment applicable to at least some of the signals transmitted and/or received by the system.

40 . The system of claim 39 , wherein the at least one processing circuit is operable to apply the determined compensation adjustment by subtracting it from the at least some of the signals transmitted and/or received by the system.
