Abstract

Systems, methods, and apparatus for handling and/or authorizing payment requests by a consumer for a transaction are provided. Payment information can be sent directly from a consumer to a non-merchant, thereby allowing no new entities to obtain the payment information. Transaction identifiers can be used to facilitate communications among the entities. The payment information can be sent to the non-merchant via a merchant application with a submit payment button directed to the non-merchant so little or no deviations from standard practices are required.

24 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the account identifier is present in a portable consumer device.

25 . The method of claim 20 , wherein transmitting, by the access device, payment information comprising the account identifier and the correlation ID to the payment network comprises directly transmitting the payment information to the payment network without transmitting the payment information to the merchant server.

26 . An access device comprising:
a processor; and a computer readable medium, the computer readable medium comprising code, executable by the processor, for implementing a method comprising: providing a checkout request for a transaction to a merchant server; receiving a response to the checkout request, the response comprising a merchant ID, items to be purchased, and a correlation ID; and transmitting payment information comprising an account identifier and the correlation ID to a payment network, which processes the transaction.

27 . The access device of claim 26 , wherein the payment network generates an authorization request that is sent to an issuer computer for authorization.

28 . The access device of claim 26 , wherein the checkout request occurs on a merchant Website on the merchant server.

29 . The access device of claim 26 , wherein the merchant server sends transaction information including a merchant identification, an amount of the transaction, and the correlation ID to the payment network.

30 . The access device of claim 26 , wherein the account identifier is present in a portable consumer device.

31 . The access device of claim 26 , wherein transmitting, by the access device, payment information comprising the account identifier and the correlation ID to the payment network comprises directly transmitting the payment information to the payment network without transmitting the payment information to the merchant server.
