Computer implemented methods and apparatus for communicating feed information to one or more recipients

Abstract

Disclosed are systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable media for communicating feed information to one or more recipients. In some implementations, an instruction to communicate an information update to one or more identified first recipients is received. In some instances, an additional recipient indicator is identified and an identification of one or more second recipients based on the additional recipient indicator is generated. In some instances, the one or more second recipients are provided access to the information update.

         21 . A system comprising:
 a database system implemented using a server system having a processor and a memory, the database system configurable to cause:
 identifying a first indicator entered by a first user of an enterprise social networking system in a post or a reply being composed by the first user using a user device displaying the post or reply in a user interface, the post or reply configured to be shared with other users of the enterprise social networking system in one or more newsfeeds of the enterprise social networking system; 
 identifying a second indicator entered by the first user in the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the second indicator associated with a group being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the group maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system; 
 identifying a document associated with the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the document being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the document maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system; 
 identifying, based at least partially on the first indicator, a subset of other users of the enterprise social networking system as users with whom the first user has a following relationship maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system, the identifying of the subset of other users being further based at least partially on processing data of the one or more data objects, the data indicating a relevance between the first user and the subset of other user and indicating a relevance measure associated with performance of one or more operations; 
 displaying, responsive to identifying the subset of other users, a drop-down list in the user interface, the drop-down list comprising names of the subset of other users as suggested recipients of the post or reply being composed; 
 processing user input received at the user device, the user input indicating a selection of one or more of the names of the subset of other users in the drop-down list as one or more intended recipients of the post or reply; 
 displaying, in the user interface, the selected one or more names in association with the first indicator in the post or reply being composed; 
 providing, in the user interface, a group link associated with the group, the group link being selectable to cause display of group information associated with the group; and 
 providing, in the user interface, a document link associated with the document, the document link being selectable to cause display of document information associated with the document. 
   
     
     
         22 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein each name of the subset of other users in the drop-down list is identified as being in one or more categories maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system. 
     
     
         23 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the first indicator comprises an @ character, and the second indicator comprises a hashtag. 
     
     
         24 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the group is associated with a topic maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system. 
     
     
         25 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the group is identified with a community site maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system. 
     
     
         26 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the first user is following the subset of other users.

         28 . A computer program product comprising computer-readable program code to be executed by one or more processors when retrieved from a non-transitory computer-readable medium, the program code comprising instructions configurable to cause:
 identifying a first indicator entered by a first user of an enterprise social networking system in a post or a reply being composed by the first user using a user device displaying the post or reply in a user interface, the post or reply configured to be shared with other users of the enterprise social networking system in one or more newsfeeds of the enterprise social networking system;   identifying a second indicator entered by the first user in the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the second indicator associated with a group being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the group maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system;   identifying a document associated with the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the document being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the document maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system;   identifying, based at least partially on the first indicator, a subset of other users of the enterprise social networking system as users with whom the first user has a following relationship maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system, the identifying of the subset of other users being further based at least partially on processing data of the one or more data objects, the data indicating a relevance between the first user and the subset of other user and indicating a relevance measure associated with performance of one or more operations;   displaying, responsive to identifying the subset of other users, a drop-down list in the user interface, the drop-down list comprising names of the subset of other users as suggested recipients of the post or reply being composed;   processing user input received at the user device, the user input indicating a selection of one or more of the names of the subset of other users in the drop-down list as one or more intended recipients of the post or reply;   displaying, in the user interface, the selected one or more names in association with the first indicator in the post or reply being composed;   providing, in the user interface, a group link associated with the group, the group link being selectable to cause display of group information associated with the group; and   providing, in the user interface, a document link associated with the document, the document link being selectable to cause display of document information associated with the document.

The computer program product of  claim 28 , wherein each name of the subset of other users in the drop-down list is identified as being in one or more categories maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system.

 identifying a first indicator entered by a first user of an enterprise social networking system in a post or a reply being composed by the first user using a user device displaying the post or reply in a user interface, the post or reply configured to be shared with other users of the enterprise social networking system in one or more newsfeeds of the enterprise social networking system;   identifying a second indicator entered by the first user in the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the second indicator associated with a group being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the group maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system;   identifying a document associated with the post or reply being composed by the first user using the user device, the document being followed by the first user and capable of being followed by other users of the enterprise social network system, the document maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system;   identifying, based at least partially on the first indicator, a subset of other users of the enterprise social networking system as users with whom the first user has a following relationship maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system, the identifying of the subset of other users being further based at least partially on processing data of the one or more data objects, the data indicating a relevance between the first user and the subset of other user and indicating a relevance measure associated with performance of one or more operations;   causing display, responsive to identifying the subset of other users, of a drop-down list in the user interface, the drop-down list comprising names of the subset of other users as suggested recipients of the post or reply being composed;   processing user input received at the user device, the user input indicating a selection of one or more of the names of the subset of other users in the drop-down list as one or more intended recipients of the post or reply;   causing display, in the user interface, of the selected one or more names in association with the first indicator in the post or reply being composed;   providing, in the user interface, a group link associated with the group, the group link being selectable to cause display of group information associated with the group; and   providing, in the user interface, a document link associated with the document, the document link being selectable to cause display of document information associated with the document.   
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 35 , wherein each name of the subset of other users in the drop-down list is identified as being in one or more categories maintained using one or more data objects of a database associated with the enterprise social networking system.
