Abstract
A reverse molded, plant-on decorative panel component comprises a panel portion lying on a first plane, a skirt portion, and a contoured portion. The skirt portion has a first surface adapted to be exteriorly disposed and an opposite second surface adapted to be interiorly disposed in order to be adhesively secured to a planar surface. The contoured portion extends outwardly from and surrounds the panel portion and interconnects and is integral with the panel portion and the skirt portion. The skirt portion extends peripherally about the contoured portion.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 9 . (canceled)
10 . A reverse molded wood composite door skin, comprising:
at least one panel portion lying on a first plane; a skirt portion having a first surface adapted to be exteriorly disposed and an opposite second surface adapted to be interiorly disposed in order to be adhesively secured to a planar surface; and an outwardly extending contoured first portion surrounding said panel portion and interconnecting and integral with said panel portion and said skirt portion, said skirt portion extending peripherally about said panel.
11 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein said first surface of said skirt portion includes an outer contoured portion integral with said contoured first portion.
12 . The door skin of claim 11 , wherein said outer contoured portion further comprises a rounded end opposite an end integral with said contoured first portion.
13 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein said second surface is planar.
14 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein said panel portion has a first caliper and said contoured portion has a second caliper, said second caliper being less than said first caliper.
15 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein said skirt portion is disposed angularly relative to the first plane.
16 . The door skin of claim 15 , wherein said skirt portion is disposed at an angle of about five degrees relative to the first plane.
17 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein each one of said panel portions is rectangular.
18 . The door skin of claim 10 , wherein said skirt portion has a width of between about 0.250 inches to about 0.375 inches beyond said contoured first portion.
19 .- 20 . (canceled)
21 . A method of decorating a wood composite door, comprising the steps of:
providing a door having a planar door face; providing a reverse molded wood composite door skin having a first surface adapted to be exteriorly disposed and an opposite second surface adapted to be adhesively secured to the door face, the door skin having at least one panel portion lying on a first plane, a skirt portion, and a contoured portion extending outwardly from and surrounding the panel portion and interconnecting and integral with the panel portion and the skirt portion, the skirt portion extending peripherally about the contoured portion and being disposed angularly relative to the first plane; and adhesively securing the door skin to the door face so that the skirt portion is tensioned against the door face.
22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising the step of trimming a peripheral portion of the door skin to a desired size prior to adhesively securing the door skin to the door face.
23 .- 31 . (canceled)
32 . A method of decorating a wood composite door, comprising the steps of:
providing a door having a planar door face; providing a reverse molded wood composite door skin having a first surface adapted to be exteriorly disposed and an opposite second surface adapted to be adhesively secured to the door face, the door skin having at least one panel portion lying on a first plane, a skirt portion, and a contoured portion extending outwardly from and surrounding the panel portion and interconnecting and integral with the panel portion and the skirt portion, the skirt portion extending peripherally about the contoured portion; and adhesively securing the door skin to the door face so that the skirt portion is secured to the door face.Cited by (0)
