Abstract
Embodiments herein are directed to a hemostatic medical device including an applicator having a receptacle with an output end and a moveable piston configured to move at least partially within the receptacle, and a plurality of liquid expandable articles disposed within the applicator, wherein each liquid expandable article has a volume greater than 50 mm 3 .
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A hemostatic medical device, comprising:
an applicator having a receptacle with an output end and a moveable piston configured to move at least partially within the receptacle; and a plurality of liquid expandable articles disposed within the applicator, wherein each liquid expandable article has a volume greater than 50 mm 3 .
2 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the piston is arranged to facilitate ejection of the plurality of liquid expandable articles from within the receptacle through the output end.
3 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the moveable piston is coupled to a shaft having a handle, wherein the handle is configured to reside at least partially outside the receptacle.
4 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , further comprising a valve coupled to the output end of the receptacle.
5 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , further comprising one or more therapeutic agents within the receptacle.
6 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 5 , wherein the one or more therapeutic agents are dispersed within the receptacle.
7 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 5 , wherein the one or more therapeutic agents are not attached to the plurality of liquid expandable articles.
8 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 5 , wherein the one or more therapeutic agents are coupled to the plurality of liquid expandable articles.
9 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein at least 10 liquid expandable articles are disposed within the applicator.
10 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein each liquid expandable article has a volume greater than 100 mm 3 .
11 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein each liquid expandable article has a first major outer surface and a second major outer surface, wherein the first and second major outer surfaces have a distance of 1 mm to 10 mm therebetween.
12 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein each liquid expandable article has a first major outer surface and a second major outer surface, wherein the first and second major outer surfaces have an average diameter of 5 mm to 10 mm.
13 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein each liquid expandable article has a cylindrical shape.
14 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of liquid expandable articles comprise a sponge or fibrous material.
15 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of liquid expandable articles comprise a compressed material.
16 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of liquid expandable articles are not attached to each other within the receptacle.
17 . The hemostatic medical device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of liquid expandable articles are coupled to each other within the receptacle.Cited by (0)
