Abstract

Various embodiments directed to systems and methods that enable cross platform persistent gaming sessions using a mobile device in a mobile device-enhanced system are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for reformatting original graphical content designed for presentation on a gaming machine for presentation on a mobile computing device for which the original graphical content was not originally designed may include transmitting display information associated with a display on the mobile computing device to the gaming machine. The method may include receiving, by the gaming machine, the display information transmitted by the mobile computing device. The method may include determining a resolution or aspect ratio associated with the original graphical content. The method may include reformatting the original graphical content based on the resolution or aspect ratio associated with the original graphical content and the display information received from the mobile computing device.

         21 . A method of operating a gaming system, the gaming system including game-logic circuitry and a gaming machine, the gaming machine primarily dedicated to playing at least one casino wagering game, the method comprising:
 establishing a communication link between the gaming machine and a mobile device to enable a gaming session using the gaming machine and the mobile device;   establishing a credit balance on the gaming machine;   initiating play of the wagering game in response to a wager input indicative of a wager covered by the credit balance;   in response to disconnection of the mobile device from the gaming machine, initiating a payout of the credit balance to a player account stored on a server.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21  wherein the disconnection is player-initiated at the mobile device. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21  wherein the disconnection is automatically initiated. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23  wherein the disconnection is initiated by the gaming machine. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24  wherein the disconnection is initiated in response to detecting that the credit balance is below a predetermined threshold. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 24  wherein the disconnection is initiated in response to detecting that an input has not been received from the mobile device in a predetermined period of time. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 21  wherein the mobile device comprises a mobile wallet associated with the player account. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 21  wherein the communication link is one or more of a WiFi connection, a Bluetooth connection or a cellular connection. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 21  further including receiving, via an input device of the gaming machine, an input to initiate the gaming session. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 21  wherein the wager input is received at the mobile device. 
     
     
         31 . A method of operating a gaming system, the gaming system including game-logic circuitry and a gaming machine, the gaming machine primarily dedicated to playing at least one casino wagering game, the method comprising:
 establishing a communication link between the gaming machine and a mobile device to enable a gaming session using the gaming machine and the mobile device;   establishing a credit balance on the gaming machine from a player account stored on a server, the establishment of the credit balance facilitated by the mobile device;   initiating remote play of the wagering game on the mobile device in response to a wager input indicative of a wager covered by the credit balance;   in response to disconnection of the mobile device from the gaming machine, initiating a payout of the credit balance to the player account.   
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 31  wherein the disconnection is player-initiated at the mobile device. 
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 31  wherein the disconnection is automatically initiated. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 33  wherein the disconnection is initiated by the gaming machine.
