Abstract
A capsule is provided for use in a machine for preparing product from capsules. The capsule includes a body that defines an interior space with an opening at one location and an aperture at another location. Ingredients are disposed within the interior space for preparing a desired product. A cover is disposed over the opening and an aperture cover is disposed over the aperture. The aperture cover is adapted to open at least partially during use of the capsule in the machine to permit the consumable product to be dispensed.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A capsule, for use in a machine for that injects fluid into capsules for preparing consumable products, said capsule comprising:
a body defining an interior space with an opening at one location, that is adapted to receive an injection of fluid from the machine into said interior space for preparing a desired consumable product, and an aperture at another location that is downstream of said opening and adapted to allow the desired consumable product to be dispensed from said interior space into a desired receptacle; ingredients disposed in said interior space for preparing a desired consumable product; a cover disposed over said opening, said cover being adapted to be pierced by the machine for the injection of fluid into said interior space; and an aperture cover disposed over said aperture, said aperture cover being adapted to open at least partially during use of the capsule in the machine to permit the consumable product to be dispensed into the desired receptacle.
2 . The capsule of claim 1 , wherein said aperture cover is adhered to said body with a food safe adhesive that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.

The capsule of claim 1 , wherein said aperture cover is adhered to said body with a first adhesive, applied to a portion of the aperture cover, that is adapted to adhere such portion of the aperture cover to said body during the use of the capsule in the machine, and a second adhesive, applied to another portion of the aperture cover, that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine, such portion of the aperture cover being adapted to open at least partially during use of the capsule in the machine to permit the consumable product to be dispensed through said aperture.

The capsule of claim 2 , wherein said adhesive has a sufficiently greater surface area of contact between said aperture cover and said body at certain locations where one does not wish adhesive to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.
7 . The capsule of claim 1 , wherein said aperture cover has one or more separable portions that are adapted to separate from one another when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.
8 . The capsule of claim 7 , wherein said separable portions are adhered together with a food safe adhesive that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.

15 . The capsule of claim 1 wherein said ingredients include insoluble consumable ingredients.
16 . The capsule of claim 1 further comprising a filter disposed in said body for filtering at least some of said ingredients.
17 . A capsule, for use in a machine that injects fluid into capsules for preparing consumable products, said capsule comprising:
a body having a side wall extending from an end wall to an opening to define an interior space, said opening being surrounded by a flange; ingredients disposed in said interior space for preparing a desired product; a cover disposed over said opening, wherein said cover is adapted to be pierced by the machine to receive an injection of fluid from the machine into said interior space for preparing a desired consumable product; an aperture defined in said end wall downstream of said opening and adapted to allow the desired consumable product to be dispensed from said interior space into a desired receptacle; an aperture cover disposed on said end wall to cover said aperture, said aperture cover being adapted to open at least partially during use of the capsule in the machine to permit the consumable product to be dispensed into the desired receptacle.
18 . The capsule of claim 17 , further comprising a void defined in said flange on an exterior side of said side wall.
19 . The capsule of claim 17 , further comprising at least one protrusion defined in an exterior side of said side wall that is adapted to be received in the machine.
20 . The capsule of claim 19 , wherein said at least one protrusion is adapted to engage a corresponding element on the machine.
21 . The capsule of claim 19 , wherein a void is defined between a pair of said protrusions on an exterior side of said side wall.

23 . The capsule of claim 17 , wherein said aperture cover is adhered to said body with a food safe adhesive that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.

The capsule of claim 23 , wherein said adhesive has a sufficiently greater surface area of contact between said aperture cover and said body at certain locations where one does not wish adhesive to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.

The capsule of claim 17 , wherein said aperture cover is adhered to said body with a first adhesive, applied to a portion of the aperture cover, that is adapted to adhere such portion of the aperture cover to said body during the use of the capsule in the machine, and a second adhesive, applied to another portion of the aperture cover, that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine, such portion of the aperture cover being adapted to open at least partially during use of the capsule in the machine to permit the consumable product to be dispensed through said aperture.
28 . The capsule of claim 17 , wherein said aperture cover has one or more separable portions that are adapted to separate from one another when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.
29 . The capsule of claim 28 , wherein said separable portions are adhered together with a food safe adhesive that is adapted to dissolve or separate when exposed to the internal pressure, heat and/or moisture normally associated with the use of the capsule in the machine.
