Abstract

A hinged electrodynamic transducer apparatus is disclosed for providing oscillating and/or vibrational motion. The hinged transducer of the present invention is configured to be robust and low profile for installation under chairs, seats, and other items of furniture such that it can impart vibrational motion capable of being sensed by the human body (DC to approximately 500Hz.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A device for imparting vibration motion to an object, the device comprising:
 a top portion;   a bottom portion corresponding to the top portion;   a hinge element movably connecting said top portion and said bottom portion, the hinge element located at common ends of the top portion and bottom portion such that the top portion can open with respect to the bottom portion;   an electrodynamic actuator between the top portion and the bottom portion, the electrodynamic actuator being capable of effecting an open and close motion in the top portion with respect to the bottom portion when activated by electronic signals.
