Abstract

A publication system can receive a first word in a first language. The system can generate a second word in a second language via machine translation and associate the machine translation with a score. The system can present the second word in association with a user interface (UI) element unrelated to the accuracy of the translation (e.g., bidding on an item, buying an item, watching an item, etc.). The system can monitor user interactions with the UI element and increase the score when users interact with the UI element and decrease the score when users do not interact with the UI element. When the score satisfies a threshold, the system can update a multilingual dictionary by mapping the first word to the second word and apply the dictionary to translate other content including the first word in the first language to the second word in the second language.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
receiving, by a publication system from a first client device, one or more first words in a first language; generating, by one or more processors of the publication system, one or more second words in a second language via machine translation of the one or more first words in the first language to the one or more second words in the second language; associating the machine translation with a translation score; presenting the one or more second words in association with a user interface element to one or more second client devices; increasing the translation score based on a number of interactions by the one or more second client devices with the user interface element; in response to the translation score satisfying a threshold, updating a multilingual dictionary by mapping the one or more first words in the first language to the one or more second words in the second language; and applying the multilingual dictionary to translate content including the one or more first words in the first language to the one or more second words in the second language.

         2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
decreasing the translation score based on a lack of interactions by the one or more second client devices with the user interface element.
