Abstract
A pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity is provided. The pharmaceutical composition comprises para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pharmaceutical composition is used for treating squamous-cell carcinoma. The present invention further provides a method for treating a patient suffering from cancer and a method for inhibiting tumor growth.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity, wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and the pharmaceutical composition is used for treating squamous-cell carcinoma.
2 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 1 , wherein a concentration of PTS is between 2.5 μmol/l and 80 μmol/l.
3 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 1 , wherein the concentration of PTS is between 10 μmol/l and 20 μmol/l.
4 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 1 , wherein PTS has a selectivity with respect to treated cancer cells and normal cells.
5 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 4 , wherein the selectivity is determined by a suppression ratio, which is “cancer cell suppression %/normal cell suppression %”, and wherein the suppression ratio is 1.8˜5.
6 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 1 , wherein PTS activates apoptosis and necrosis to induce cancer cells death.
7 . The pharmaceutical composition exhibiting anti-tumor activity according to claim 6 , wherein cancer cells death is triggered through ATP synthesis pathway of mitochondria.
8 . A method for treating a patient suffering from cancer, comprising:
administering a pharmaceutical composition to a patient with squamous-cell carcinoma, wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
9 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 8 , wherein a concentration of PTS is between 2.5 μmol/l and 80 μmol/l.
10 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 9 , wherein the concentration of PTS is between 10 μmol/l and 20 μmol/l.
11 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 8 , wherein after administering the pharmaceutical composition, an intracellular concentration of PTS in cancer cells is greater than an intracellular concentration of PTS in normal cells.
12 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 11 , wherein after administering the pharmaceutical composition, the intracellular concentration of PTS in cancer cells is 8˜12 folds greater than the intracellular concentration of PTS in normal cells.
13 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 8 , wherein PTS activates apoptosis and necrosis to induce cancer cells death.
14 . The method for treating a patient suffering from cancer according to claim 13 , wherein cancer cells death is triggered through ATP synthesis pathway of mitochondria.
15 . A method for inhibiting cancer cells growth, comprising:
providing a target body, comprising plural cancer cells comprising squamous-cell carcinoma; and supplying a composition to the target body, wherein the composition comprises para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS) at a concentration between 2.5 μmol/l and 80 μmol/l.
16 . (canceled)
17 . The method for inhibiting cancer cells growth according to claim 15 , wherein the concentration of PTS is between 10 μmol/l and 20 μmol/l.
18 . The method for inhibiting cancer cells growth according to claim 15 , wherein the target body further comprises normal cells and PTS selectively inhibits the cancer cells without affecting normal cells.
19 . The method for inhibiting cancer cells growth according to claim 15 , wherein PTS activates apoptosis and necrosis to induce cancer cells death.
20 . The method for inhibiting cancer cells growth according to claim 19 , wherein cancer cells death is triggered through ATP synthesis pathway of mitochondria.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
