Abstract
A foodstuff can include a free acid β-hydroxybutyrate, and a base. The β-hydroxybutyrate, and base, are present at a less than 1:1 molar equivalence. Ketone Ester may also be incorporated as a component of the foodstuff.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWe claim:
1 . A foodstuff comprising:
free acid β-hydroxybutyrate; and a base.
wherein the base is less than a 1:1 molar equivalent with respect to the free acid β-hydroxybutyrate.
2 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , having a molar ratio 10 parts free acid β-hydroxybutyrate and between 2-8 parts of the base.
3 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , wherein the free acid β-hydroxybutyrate is replaced with an enantiomerically enriched (D)-β-hydroxybutyrate.
4 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , wherein the free acid β-hydroxybutyrate is replaced with an enantiomerically pure (D)-β-hydroxybutyrate.
5 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , further comprising a Ketone Ester.
6 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , wherein the foodstuff is encapsulated with an enteric coating.
7 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , wherein the foodstuff is administered with a stomach acid inhibitor.
8 . The foodstuff of claim 1 , wherein the base is comprised of at least one of the following; Na+, K+, and Ca+.
9 . A method of consuming a foodstuff to elevate ketone levels in the body of a user comprising the steps of:
consuming a free acid β-hydroxybutyrate and a base at an effective dose, wherein the amount of base is less than a 1:1 molar equivalent with respect to the free acid β-hydroxybutyrate.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein a Ketone Ester is consumed.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose treats erectile dysfunction.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose treats hair loss.
13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose improves visual acuity.
14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose treats amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
15 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose treats a brain injury.
16 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose enhances athletic performance.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein 0.5 to 2 times the amount of carbohydrates with respect to the effective dose are consumed by the user.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the carbohydrates are administered prior to the ketones.
19 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose prevents hyperglycemia.
20 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the effective dose is defined as up to 2 g/kg of body weight per day, wherein the effective dose improves myocardial blood flow and efficiency.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
