Shoe adapted to the shape of the foot

Abstract

Described are uppers for a shoe, particularly a sports shoe. The upper includes a plurality of first portions for receiving at least one toe of the foot, wherein the first portions can be moved substantially independently of each other and wherein the first portions comprise knitwear.

         26 . A method of manufacturing an upper for a shoe comprising:
 knitting a row of stitches of a knitwear on a first row of needles;   simultaneously knitting a row of stitches of the knitwear on a second row of needles; and   selectively connecting the rows of stitches to each other by knitting edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the first row of needles to edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the second row of needles.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein knitting the row of stitches of the knitwear on the first row of needles comprises forming at least a portion of a first layer, and wherein knitting the row of stitches of the knitwear on the second row of needles comprises forming at least a portion of a second layer. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein connecting edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the first row of needles to edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the second row of needles comprises joining the first layer to the second layer along a contour of the shoe to form a cavity for a foot. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 28 , further comprising three-dimensionally knitting the first layer and the second layer so that a final shape of the upper corresponds to a shape of the foot. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 28 , further comprising knitting the upper as one-piece knitwear. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 28 , further comprising knitting the first layer and the second layer to form at least two first portions, wherein at least one of the at least two first portions is shaped to contour to an individual toe of a wearer when the shoe is worn. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein the at least two first portions comprise five first portions, with each first portion being shaped to contour to each individual toe of the wearer when the shoe is worn. 
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein the at least two first portions are formed so that the first portions may be moved substantially independently of each other so that toes of the wearer may be moved substantially independently of each other when the shoe is worn. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein the at least two first portions are formed so that the at least two first portions are connected to each other substantially seamlessly. 
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein the at least two first portions overlap at least in part. 
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 31 , further comprising knitting an additional yarn into at least the first portion that is shaped to contour to the individual toe of the wearer when the shoe is worn so that the additional yarn supports the individual toe. 
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the additional yarn forms a toe cap that extends above a toenail and along a side of the individual toe of the wearer when worn. 
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the additional yarn is elastic so that the first portion that is shaped to contour to the individual toe of the wearer adapts to a shape and size of the individual toe. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 31 , further comprising attaching the upper to a sole, wherein the sole comprises at least two second portions that correspond to the at least two first portions. 
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 39 , further comprising knitting at least a subsection of the sole together with the upper as one-piece knitwear. 
     
     
         41 . The method of  claim 39 , further comprising knitting the sole and the upper as one-piece knitwear. 
     
     
         42 . The method of  claim 41 , further comprising reinforcing the sole with a coating. 
     
     
         43 . The method of  claim 41 , further comprising knitting an additional yarn into the sole to reinforce the sole. 
     
     
         44 . A method of manufacturing a shoe comprising:
 knitting a row of stitches of a knitwear on a first row of needles to form a first layer of the shoe;   knitting a row of stitches of the knitwear on a second row of needles to form a second layer of the shoe; and   selectively connecting the rows of stitches to each other by knitting edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the first row of needles to edges of the row of stitches of the knitwear on the second row of needles such that the first and second layers are connected along a contour of the shoe to form a cavity for a foot;   wherein the shoe comprises an upper and a sole.   
     
     
         45 . The method of  claim 44 , wherein the first layer of the shoe comprises a first subsection of the sole together with a first subsection of the upper, and the second layer of the shoe comprises a second subsection of the sole and a second subsection of the upper to jointly form a one-piece knitwear. 
     
     
         46 . The method of  claim 44 , wherein the first layer of the shoe comprises the upper, and the second layer of the shoe comprises a subsection of the sole to jointly form a one-piece knitwear. 
     
     
         47 . The method of  claim 46 , wherein the sole knitwear comprises at least a portion of an outer sole of the shoe. 
     
     
         48 . The method of  claim 44 , further comprising coating a least a portion of the sole. 
     
     
         49 . The method of  claim 44 , wherein at least a portion of the sole comprises melted yarn. 
     
     
         50 . The method of  claim 44 , wherein at least a portion of the sole comprises a deep profile such that traction is improved. 
     
     
         51 . The method of  claim 44 , wherein a number of stitches in at least one row of at least one layer is different from a preceding row.
