Abstract

Disclosed herein is a system and method for managing financial information. According to an embodiment, electronic purchase data is received from an electronic payment source. The received electronic purchase data is generated into one or more visual representation formats using a transformation server. Once the visual representation has been generated, the visual representation format is rendered using a display device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer system comprising:
 a memory, the memory storing a set of instructions; one or more processors that execute the set of instructions to: (A) obtain, from a third-party source that maintains records for a financial account of a user, electronic purchase data, the electronic purchase data identifying a transaction of the user from which payment was made using the financial account of the user; (B) generate an electronic receipt for the transaction, the electronic receipt including a set of information that is based on, but not the same as, the electronic purchase data; wherein generating the electronic receipt includes:
 (i) providing a verification identifier that is unique to the electronic receipt on the electronic receipt, the verification identifier being generated after the electronic purchase data is obtained, and
 (ii) linking the electronic receipt to the stored electronic purchase data;
   (C) provide an interface to enable a third-party submitter to submit a verification code that corresponds to the verification identifier; and (D) verify that the electronic receipt corresponds to the transaction identified by the electronic purchase data from which the electronic receipt that provides the verification code was generated.

         2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors access the instructions to:
 obtain origination information for the electronic purchase data, the origination information identifying the third-party source and a time when the electronic purchase data was obtained from the third-party source.

         3 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors store at least one of an origination information or the electronic purchase data in memory, for use in linking the electronic receipt to the stored electronic purchase data.

         4 . The computer system of claim 3 , wherein the one or more processors store at least one of the origination information or the electronic purchase data in permanent memory.

         5 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes a proper name of a merchant, as referenced by a corresponding code included in the electronic purchase data.

         6 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes a proper name of a merchant, as referenced by a partial name included in the electronic purchase data.

         7 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes at least one of a financial amount of the transaction with tip.

         8 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes a category of an item or service being purchased in the transaction.

         9 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors process the electronic purchase data to identify an amount that is reimbursable to the user, and generate the electronic receipt to include an indicator of the amount that is reimbursable.

         10 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes a data of transaction that is different than a date associated with the transaction in the electronic purchase data.

         11 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the set of information is provided in a machine-readable format.

         12 . A non-transitory computer readable medium that stores instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations that include:
 A) obtaining, from a third-party source that maintains records for a financial account of a user, electronic purchase data, the electronic purchase data identifying a transaction of the user from which payment was made using the financial account of the user; (B) generating an electronic receipt for the transaction, the electronic receipt including a set of information that is based on, but not the same as, the electronic purchase data; wherein generating the electronic receipt includes:
 (i) providing a verification identifier that is unique to the electronic receipt on the electronic receipt, the verification identifier being generated after the electronic purchase data is obtained, and
 (ii) linking the electronic receipt to the stored electronic purchase data;
   (C) provide an interface to enable a third-party submitter to submit a verification code that corresponds to the verification identifier; and (D) verifying that the electronic receipt corresponds to the transaction identified by the electronic purchase data from which the electronic receipt that provides the verification code was generated.

         13 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes a proper name of a merchant, as referenced by a corresponding code included in the electronic purchase data.

         14 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes a proper name of a merchant, as referenced by a partial name included in the electronic purchase data.

         15 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes at least one of a financial amount of the transaction with tip.

         16 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes a category of an item or service being purchased in the transaction.

         17 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes a data of transaction that is different than a date associated with the transaction in the electronic purchase data.

         18 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information includes a data of transaction that is different than a date associated with the transaction in the electronic purchase data.

         19 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the set of information is provided in a machine-readable format.

         20 . A method for managing financial information, the method being implemented by one or more processors and comprising:
 (A) obtaining, from a third-party source that maintains records for a financial account of a user, electronic purchase data, the electronic purchase data identifying a transaction of the user from which payment was made using the financial account of the user; (B) generating an electronic receipt for the transaction, the electronic receipt including a set of information that is based on, but not the same as, the electronic purchase data; wherein generating the electronic receipt includes:
 (i) providing a verification identifier that is unique to the electronic receipt on the electronic receipt, the verification identifier being generated after the electronic purchase data is obtained, and
 (ii) linking the electronic receipt to the stored electronic purchase data;
   (C) provide an interface to enable a third-party submitter to submit a verification code that corresponds to the verification identifier; and (D) verifying that the electronic receipt corresponds to the transaction identified by the electronic purchase data from which the electronic receipt that provides the verification code was generated.
