Systems and methods for switching electronic accounts using a self-service device
Abstract
The disclosed embodiments include methods and systems for switching electronic accounts using self-service device. The account switch system may receive, from the self-service device, a request to switch an existing electronic account associated with a first provider to a new electronic account associated with a second provider. The account switch system may also receive, from the self-service device, information associated with the existing electronic account. The account switch system may generate the new electronic account associated with the second financial service provider and transfer data, such as funds, associated with the existing electronic account to the new electronic account. The account switch system may send information associated with the new electronic account to the self-service device, and the self-service device may provide a new account card associated with the individual and the new electronic account to the individual that is ready for use.

24 . A financial service provider device, associated with a first financial service provider, for switching an existing electronic account associated with the first provider to a new electronic account associated with a second provider, comprising:
one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a user, a request to switch the existing electronic account to the new electronic account;
receiving, from the user, information associated with the existing electronic account;
receiving, from the user, identification information associated with the user,
verifying an identify of the user based at least on the identification information;
generating the new electronic account based at least on the received and verified information;
transferring data associated with the existing electronic account to the new electronic account; and
sending information associated with the new electronic account to the user.
25 . The device of claim 24 , wherein receiving the identification information comprises receiving information from a personal identification card associated with the user.
26 . The device of claim 25 , wherein receiving the identification information comprises capturing an image of the user.
27 . The device of claim 26 , wherein receiving the identification information comprises receiving the identification information from a third party.
28 . The device of claim 27 , wherein the operations comprise:
identifying automatic bill payment information associated with the existing electronic account; and configuring the new electronic account based on at least the automatic bill payment information.
29 . The device of claim 28 , wherein identifying the automatic bill payment information comprises identifying the automatic bill payment information based on transactions paid for with the existing electronic account in an immediately prior time period.
30 . The device of claim 29 , wherein identifying the automatic bill payment information comprises obtaining the information of transactions paid for with the existing electronic account from one of the third party providing the identification information or a separate third party.
31 . The financial service provider device of claim 24 , wherein receiving identification information associated with the user comprises receiving the identification information from a self-service device of the user.

The financial service provider device of claim 31 , wherein receiving the information associated with the existing electronic account comprises receiving the information associated with the existing electronic account from the user based on an account card associated with the existing electronic account.
33 . The financial service provider device of claim 32 , wherein the operations comprise:
sending, to a server associated with the second provider, a request to switch from the existing credit card account to the new credit card account; receiving, from the server, information associated with the new credit card account; and sending information associated with the new credit card account to the user.
34 . The financial service provider device of claim 33 . wherein the operations comprise transferring a balance associated with the existing credit card account to the new credit card account.
35 . The financial service provider device of claim 34 , wherein operations comprise providing, at the self-service device, a credit card associated with the new credit card account to the user.
36 . The financial service provider device of claim 35 , wherein the self-service device includes a card writer for encoding data associated with the new electronic account on a magnetic stripe of the account card associated with the new electronic account.
37 . The financial service provider device of claim 36 , wherein the card writer is configured to encode on the magnetic stripe of the account card at least one of an account holder name, a card account number, an expiration date, a security code, an encoded magnetized strip, an integrated circuit card, or a security pin.
38 . The financial service provider device of claim 37 , wherein receiving the information associated with the new credit card account comprises receiving a credit term of the new credit card account.
39 . The financial service provider device of claim 38 , wherein receiving the information associated with the new credit card account comprises receiving a credit term of the new electronic account based on a credit term associated with the existing credit card account.
40 . The financial service provider device of claim 39 , wherein the credit term associated with the existing electronic account comprises at least one of a credit limit, a reward benefit. an interest rate, a fee term, or a payment term.
41 . The financial service provider device of claim 40 , wherein the operations comprise activating the account card associated with the new electronic account for subsequent payment transactions at the time the card is provided.
42 . A financial service provider device, associated with a first financial service provider, for switching an existing electronic account associated with a second provider to a new electronic account associated with the first financial service provider, comprising:
one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a user, a request to switch the existing electronic account to the new electronic account;
receiving, from the user, information associated with the existing electronic account;
receiving, from the user, identification information associated with the user,
verifying an identify of the user based at least on the identification information;
generating the new electronic account based at least on the received and verified information;
transferring data associated with the existing electronic account to the new electronic account; and
sending information associated with the new electronic account to the user.
43 . A system for switching an existing electronic account associated with a first provider to a new electronic account associated with a second provider, comprising:
one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a first device associated with the first provider, a request to switch the existing electronic account to the new electronic account;
receiving, from the first device, information associated with the existing electronic account;
receiving, from the first device, identification information associated with the user,
verifying, with a second device associated with the second provider, an identify of the user based at least on the identification information;
generating, with the second device, the new electronic account based at least on the received and verified information;
transferring, from the second device to the first device, data associated with the existing electronic account to the new electronic account; and
