Abstract
A bird deterrent has a base and at least one branched spike extending from the base. The branching can occur anywhere along the spike, and a single branch point can give rise to multiple branches. Spikes can have multiple branches. The various branches can be of any suitable length(s), and can be oriented in any suitable direction(s).
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method of manufacturing a bird deterrent, comprising:
molding each of an elongated base and a plurality of spikes, wherein the spikes extend from the base, and the base includes at least one breakpoint positioned between a first segment and a second segment; molding the base and the spikes such that at least first, second, and third spikes extend from the base on the first segment, wherein the first spike extends orthogonally with respect to a bottom of the base, the second spike extends laterally outwardly, in an off-vertical manner, to a first side of the base, and the third spike extends laterally outwardly, in an off-vertical manner, to an opposite side of the base.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second segment includes at least fourth, fifth, and sixth spikes oriented substantially in the same directions as the first, second, and third spikes, respectively.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first segment additionally includes another spike that is oriented orthogonally with respect to the bottom of the base.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first segment additionally includes a fourth spike, which extends laterally outwardly, in an off-vertical manner to the first side of the base.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the fourth spike is angled differently from the base than the second spike.
6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the first segment additionally includes a fifth spike that extends laterally outwardly, in an off-vertical manner to the opposite side of the base
7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the fifth spike is angled differently from the base than the third spike.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second spike is branched.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the first, second, and third spikes are fluted. branched.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising molding the base and the first, second, and third spikes from a common quantity of plastic.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the plastic comprises polycarbonate.
12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising molding the base to include a channel running longwise along the base.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the channel comprises a glue channel.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second spikes have different lengths.
15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second and third spikes have different lengths.
16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the base and first, second and third spikes are molded together as a single piece of plastic.Cited by (0)
