Abstract

Systems and processes for measuring and sizing a foot are provided. In one exemplary process, at least one image of a foot and a horizontal reference object from a first point of view is captured. A portion of the foot may be disposed against a vertical reference object. The at least one image may be displayed, where one or more camera guides are overlaid on the at least one displayed image. In response to aligning the one or more camera guides with one or more of the horizontal reference object and the vertical reference object, a measurement of the foot based on the at least one captured image from the first point of view is determined.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A computer implemented method for measuring a foot with an electronic device having a processor, camera, infrared light source, and display screen, the method comprising:
projecting a set of infrared dots onto at least a portion of a foot from a first point of view; capturing, by the camera and a secondary camera, infrared light reflected from the projected set of infrared dots; calculating a distance based on the captured infrared light; and determining a measurement of the at least a portion of the foot based on the distance calculation.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein calculating a distance based on the captured infrared light includes utilizing at least one depth-sensor which uses time-of-flight infrared laser dot metrology.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the measurement of the at least a portion of the foot is determined based on at least one absolute depth value calculated from time-of-flight information associated with the reflected infrared light.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one depth-sensor is positioned on a rear side of the electronic device, further comprising:
displaying, on the display screen, one or more prompts to guide a user to measure the foot.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one depth-sensor is positioned on a front side of the electronic device, further comprising:
providing at least one of an audible tone or flash from a rear side device component to guide a user to measure the foot.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, in response to determining the measurement of the at least a portion of the foot based on the distance calculation:
converting the measurement into shoe size information based on stored dimensional values; and displaying, on the display screen, the shoe size information.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
displaying, on the display screen, a representation of an image preview screen of the application.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the representation of the image preview screen includes one or more corner guides.
