Abstract

A formulation for producing a polymeric material including high-density polyethylene, a chemical blowing agent, and other optional components is described.

1 . An insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material comprising
 about 50% to about 90% by weight of high density polyethylene (HDPE) base resin,   about 10% to about 50% by weight of low density polyethylene (LDPE) base resin,   up to about 1% by weight of a chemical blowing agent,   up to about 15% by weight of a nucleating agent, and   a physical blowing agent,   wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a density of about 0.1 g/cm 3  to about 0.9 g/cm 3 .   
     
     
         2 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the high density polyethylene (HDPE) base resin is about 50% to about 85% by weight. 
     
     
         3 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the high density polyethylene (HDPE) base resin is about 80% to about 90% by weight. 
     
     
         4 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 3 , wherein the high density polyethylene (HDPE) base resin is about 85% by weight. 
     
     
         5 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the low density polyethylene (LDPE) base resin is about 15% to about 50% by weight. 
     
     
         6 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 5 , wherein the low density polyethylene (LDPE) base resin is about 20% to about 30% by weight. 
     
     
         7 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 6 , wherein the low density polyethylene (LDPE) base resin is about 20% to about 25% by weight. 
     
     
         8 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the chemical blowing agent is about 0.1% to about 0.3% by weight. 
     
     
         9 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 8 , wherein the chemical blowing agent is about 0.2% to about 0.3% by weight. 
     
     
         10 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 9 , wherein the chemical blowing agent is about 0.25% by weight. 
     
     
         11 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the nucleating agent is about is about 0.1% to about 0.3% by weight. 
     
     
         12 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 11 , wherein the nucleating agent is about 0.2% to about 0.3% by weight. 
     
     
         13 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 12 , wherein the nucleating agent is about 0.2% by weight. 
     
     
         14 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a density of about 0.1 g/cm 3  to about 0.3 g/cm 3 . 
     
     
         15 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 14 , wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a density of about 0.1 g/cm 3  to about 0.2 g/cm 3 . 
     
     
         16 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 15 , wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a cell count of about 1,000,000 cells/in 3  to about 3,100,000 cells/in 3 . 
     
     
         17 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 16 , wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a density of about 0.18 g/cm 3 . 
     
     
         18 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material has a cell count of about 1,000,000 cells/in 3  to about 3,100,000 cells/in 3 . 
     
     
         19 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 18 , wherein the cell count is about 2,000,000 cells/in 3 . 
     
     
         20 . The insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material of  claim 1 , wherein the physical blowing agent is an inert gas.
